well here i am again i'm going to commit this thread to my works in progress just to keep it all neat.

so here's my first one it's going to be hades it's for a comp the theme greek gods/heroe's and as it suggests i'm doing hades in y own special way:D

so far this is the start of the texturing and the start of the normal map there is still a lot to do and i will keep updating as i go along. i eill post wires and all that stuff when i'm closer to finishing and happy with the results.

you have a very dark style there:) This guy looking good so far, but his chin is extremely strange in both the front view and side view. There doesn't look like there is a solid bone underneath. I can't really say how to fix this, but I am sure after some poly pushing, you can come up with something much much better. Otherwise, it's a good start on the textures. He is going to be another cool character for your port:)

The dark moody shadows and the dynamic spot light is cool but for evaluation purposes it's a bit much especially if you wanted some critique on the texture work. For the most part the head has a really pleasing silhouette but the hair line across the forehead and hair in general is weird. I know it's a work in progress and I'm just pointing out the obvious but it would be cool to see you push some alphas for short hair, I feel it makes things more organic. With that said it’s nice to see you kicking things off and I look forward to future updates on your thread.:)

Marcus

PS: Next time post some wires and a couple self illumination shots.;)

Antimagic - thanks and yeah the chin is the part i'm not happy with either i've been tweaking it a lot and i think it's getting there.

Marcus Dublin - thanks your right the hair line does need some work, the idea was to have some alphas for the front and the texture on the scalp was for angles that might allow you to see past some of the alphas, i think that makes sense and ok no more lighting shots untill the end:D

ok so here's some high poly work, still lots to refine:D

Vincento - thanks normaly i do a mesh in max, but this time around i thought i would give Z spheres ago:D

Kalango - thanks ahd yeah i wanted to give that dark monk/priest feel to him i'm happy it's showing through.

so here's a bit more this time around as you can see i'm playing around with a different head piece.

His six pack could be smoothed out and blended into the rest of his skin a bit, but beyond that I really like it. The hands are especially lovely additions (note how I did not exchange "additions" with "touches" ^^; )
The original head pieces seems to suit him more; it gives off more of a priest feel than the helmet.

i like the guy with the hood...not the helmet

This is looking pretty dam kick ass, I can tell your really having fun with this one!
One thing that sticks out to me that hasn't been mentioned is the lumpy skin parts, they look like thick worms crawling under his skin. I bet with a bit of refinement this can be smoothed out, from what I can see I think you going for the melted skin look which is cool but if you do I would grab some reference of burn victims "If you have the stomach for it" or Freddy Kruger. Keep up the good though as it's shaping up to be a really nice piece.:)

Chasarsis - thanks, the six pack is popping out a bit mainly due to previous normal map tests as thatey achieved a really good result, but i'm going to retopo with a few new tricks i've learned so i'll see how it goes:D

dhedheahmed - yeah i agree and thanks.

Marcus Dublin - thanks and yeah this is a pleasure to make, as for the skin you got it right it's sort of a living armor/skin which will be a metal texture, i'll post my initial rough texture for it next time, all though the burns idea for the metal might just be a better idea, thanks:thumb: , yeah i have the stomach for that type of thing i've seen and dealt with it in real life.

so here's a bit more the patterns you see are just photoshoped in to give me an idea for some alpha's

hey well as i said before i'm going to keep this thread for all my projects so here's something else i'm working on. As you can see No big guns or armor just casual wear which is something i usually do for clients(not these ones), so as i progress with these i'll post them here to.

so i've started working in some detail using the layers of Z brush which is pretty cool, i'm still adjusting to get the right blends, oh and my tablet has gone screwy so i'm using a mouse so yeah:uhh:

I don't know Shadowbreeze, I think the skin texture might be a bit too much. Like now all that detail you put into the form of the body is gone, that and the texture also makes the character look real noisy

Don't get me wrong, the texture is working on the face, but it's killing the body.

Last thing. the collar around his neck, is that a collar? At first I thought you had him wearing a shirt of some sort, is he?

shadowbreeze

BiG ToE - yeah all the extra detail is on separate layers i'm still trying to get the right balance between them all, and i might scrap them for the comp model as the map size is only 1024, but for my port i'll use a 2048 and keep working at this, thanks for the good crit i'll keep posting and we will see if a balance can be made:thumb:

oh yeah it will be a collar it's sort of a magical armored skin he use's for battle
