Might consider joining as well :D
Awesome. If I can't free some time to join I will definitely follow the challenge with great interest :)
By the way, you might want to clarify that you mean 500 triangles. In every comp I see, there's always a couple who get this confused and just count the number of faces in e.g. Maya without making things into triangles, and end up with something like 796 triangles even though they do, in fact, have 500 polygons.

Scjohnson5551 --> Cool start their. The buck teeth and large eyes really make him cute looking hehe. When I saw the letter R, I thought it was for his nick name.. Right foot:p
I am working on some sketches again for those who are interested in bringing them to life. I'll have them up tomorrow (saturday) night. Good luck to all those who enter this one. I think this will be great practice for the next main competition.

I interpreted "monster" a bit liberally, it's sort of in the vain of a monster you would find in an rpg. Like haunted armor type deal. In this case a visible ghost has taken refuge.

BluPanda --> That's a really cool one there. The little logos were a nice touch. No critiques other than.. keep it up, it's looking great so far:thumb:
nec9 --> I believe he will normal map his entry using this high poly version, so his wip shot is already a few thousand polies.
FredH
08-26-2007, 03:31 AM
Chasarsis --> Nice start there! The green together with the red really works well. At first, I thought she had something stuck in her throat, but I am glad you cleared that up. You might need to do something in that area to make its idea more clear. Besides that, nice one man:)

It's really nice to see a huge body of someones doodles, it allows you to see into their imagination and sometimes thought process. Really fun to look at. Thanks Fred!
ThatDon- looking good man, is there any particular reason you have the cell shader on it? Is your final going to be cell shaded as well?

Fred, those look great! Thanks for all the sketches. I have a few personal favorites..just have to narrow my choices down a bit.
ThatDon, you chose a very good one there, but I find that right now, his lid is a bit too small. It might look better if you made the lid the same diameter as his body. Otherwise, exceptional start:)
BluPanda, that's a very nice concept. He looks like a monster that can easily fit into a final fantasy universe.
oops sorry bout that vincento, seems we had the same idea hehe, alright i think ill go with this one then :inocent:
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y174/jsjensen04/mine-1.jpg
this is my "morning-before-i-go-to-work" progress" heh
so it seems that as i was making the proxy for this cute little guy, a weird thing happened; his backside turned into a face as well :lucky:. so what i am wondering is which one i should go with....or...possibly make a "two-tone" monster with two faces...hmm .
yes i realize he has no legs...still wondering what to do about them too :inocent:

What do you think?
I think I'm going to tweak the design a bit more before I start modeling. He's a vegetarian ghoul! :uhh:
Antimagic
08-26-2007, 03:07 PM
Nec9, I really like option B, however, you might need to change the back of his head and merge the eyeballs and nose into the head more. If you completely cover this area, I think you can save a few polies. 500 tris is not much to work with.
Kicker, I think you are off to a great start. Nothing much else to say. You have already got a very appealing character there.
Marcus Dublin
08-26-2007, 04:47 PM
Zann: This design reminds of something out of Princesses Mononoke, I really love the coloring on the concept as well.
Chasarsis: That's a great little concept, the color scheme works perfectly and would make for a great entry especially since you have a natural flare for stylized art.:thumb:
BluPanda: Awesome, the samurai design adds some nice variation to the comp and will work on a mini monster level! Cool start by the way on the model, I'll be looking to see how this comes along.:)
Fred: Thanks for suppling the concepts as usual, I think these designs will serve to breed a number of cool entries.:thumb:
ThatDon: I think you and Fred are starting to make a awesome team, this looks like a strong start!
nec9: I'm not sure what this little guy suppose to be but I'm getting a Rayman vibe from it, nice start.
KICKER: I like the concept and to add even more character I would enlarge the tooth a bit to give him some more flare!:)
Marcus
Thanks Antimagic, I agree, I think I like the way he turned out on accident hehe. I guess some of the best discoveries start off as accidents anyway. Hopefully I'm ok on tris right now, I think I'm at 256 total with the head, eyes, and feet the way they are, all I really have left are the legs and they shouldn't take up too much more.
Thank you as well Marcus, to be honest this is my first "organic" model; I'm usually all about environments and static props, hopefully I don't disappoint :inocent:
Chasarsis
08-26-2007, 10:23 PM
@Kicker: I like it much. Since he's a vegetarian though, I'd try rounding out the tooth abit. And making him smile :)
@ThatDon: I laughed when I first saw that :D
Thanks guys!
Tried my hand at painting her up, and got rid of the Peter Griffin chin ^^

Kerepres, Now that there is what I call horribly cute. A christmas rapped monster, really good idea. I am sure the gift rapping will save a great many polies.
Chasarsis, I like this new one much better:) The additional fur, and the change in neck pieces, really comes out a lot better in this one.

poopinmymouth: I'm digging the sense of volume on this character and I guess we'll have to wait and see where it's heading, nice start though.:lucky:
nec9: before you move on I'd suggest that you really take another pass at the character, the number of edges you have going across the nose should be optimized. You can use the additional poly's in the eye and feet area giving it a much better silhouette.:thumb:
Kerepres: Very cool, though it would be nice if she had some arms and hands.:)
EricElwell : First welcome to the comp, you have some cool sketches there and my favorites would have to be the second and third across the top!
Marcus
Aha I knew it...I knew someone was going to say something about the nose. Your words were all I needed to be convinced hehe. I'll revise that and repost. Thanks ya.
Alrighty, so here is another update; let me know what you guys think. I cleaned up the nose as much as I could without losing too much definition and in turn had enough polys left over to add more detail to the eyes, feet, and legs. I also added a couple of tiny wings on the back for cuteness :). Special thanks to ThatDon for the details, enjoy that beer my friend :mugs: hehe.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y174/jsjensen04/presentation2.jpg
nec9, I think you are done with the model. Everything just looks.. right. Except for maybe one thing. why is there a tiny piece of cloth hanging from his a#s?:p
EricElwell, those sketches look really good. My favorite has to be the little monster that is wearing the costume of a big monster. Hiding behind something always looks cute to me:) Looking forward to a model.
poopinmymouth, I get the feeling this is going to be good! Can't wait!

08-28-2007, 03:14 AM
Thanks for the feedback, guys!
Rain : Yeah, it does save a lot of polys without the hands. :lucky:
Frozan : Now that you've mentioned it, the more i see the more it does look like a pokemon.
Marcus : Hahaha.... She has no hands but there might be a tail for her, that is if I can figure out how pull off a bushy round tail without it looking too stiff.

Everyne knows that most dangerous monster is girl with long black hair :)
Marcus Dublin
08-28-2007, 07:53 PM
nec9: Looking much better dude, it feels much more cohesive silhouette wise.:)
Frozan: Reminds me of something you would face in a Dragons Quest game. What color scheme are you thinking of going with?
Chasarsis: The model is definitely on the right track, but there seems to be one thing missing that the concept had. On the base/body you have these nice strips of hair/fur which would work nicely on the model and the alpha planes seem to be missing. It's a nit pick on a very tight model but it would be cool if you could squeeze it in just because it adds to the character, all in all great job.:)
newman3d: Even without the texture this model oozes:p character, I'll be looking to see where this goes.
Inpw: Hehe this is such a tease, I'm guessing theres a bow on the back of her head but I could be wrong. I can't wait to see the concept to better appreciate the model.;)

nec9 : Thanks! :D Perhaps you might wanna make the wings more obvious from it's profile view. Just a suggestion :)
BluPanda
08-28-2007, 10:59 PM
here is the latest, the ghost is just stand in, threw it in last minute before taking some snaps and a break. Had alot of trouble with the straps on the front of the skirt.. still not perfect, we'll see how much more time i can devote to them before moving on.
http://nilesd.com/Private/8-28-07_progress.jpg
Kerepres: hehe np, and yeah, I'm thinking the wings do need a bit more definition, right now they just look like butt flaps haha
BluPanda: nice man, he's really looking solid, I particularly like the gauntlets :D
BluPanda, That's looking really nice man, but right now, on his side view, his shoulder area looks really narrow. It might look good if you widen them up a lot more. Maybe even make them wider then his helmet. Hope you will keep pushing him towards completion. It's already looking very good.
Inpw, Looking very nice! Since you mentioned that she is already at 500 tries, I am guessing she is going to be a ghost with no legs. If so, I would make her dress go down more so that you can make longer torn cloth or something when you texture her (unless you have other plans:) )

BluPanda
08-29-2007, 09:07 AM
@Kicker; While there is something to be said for sharply painted textures. Given the choice, I think normal map it! Sure its more work, but combine the normal map with some slick texture work and your bound to be more happy with it. Plus he just looks like hes a normal map kinda guy =D all gremliney n' stuff
@poop; what the heck is it!? I like watching this one take shape because its still a mystery and open to interpretation. Looks like a bear head! or maybe a seal? that would be crazy.

BluPanda: Hmm I'm not sure why you had problems with the front straps, I would have just detached one of them make it rock solid then clone and weld it back into place. Aside from that everything looks in order and I'm waiting to see how you tackle the normal and textures.:)
KICKER: This little guys looks like he had one to many all nighters:lol:. Personally I would go ahead and paint him up, you have a really nice style that would compliment your model. The normal map can be gray scale bumped just to add a bit of icing to the cake, it would really help the cloth pop when your at that point.
Poop: On to the textures please!;)
zann: Clever use of alphas for the snake but I'm not sure why you used them for the head, my guess is that you wanted them to be higher res or animated. Whatever the case it's coming along quite nicely and you have another cool entry on your hands.:)
Chasarsis: Funny, the first pass of this character came out pretty dam well, with a bit of elbow grease it could really shine. On the flip side I'm glad to see you making a second effort, the new mesh looks crazy cool. I'm sure with the practice you've had on the first one the latest iteration will kick a$$.
Kerepres - thx, cant wait to see ur progress as well, u can do it! :thumb:
Chasarsis - thx! I hav dig into ur model vs concept, perhaps u should make the hair more random lik ur concept art n the model neck seems to b a bit long due to the smaller body. Hope it helps :lucky:
Vikke - thx mate :)
kipiripi - so r u gonna join us?
EricElwell - thx! Hmm perhaps u should add more rounded shape instead of sharp points, tats the rules of disney cute character theory isnt it? ;)
ThatDon - hey mate, waiting for ur progress.....
nec9 - thx, ur model is interesting as well! I can imagine how interesting it is when animation is being added
Kicker - hey cool modeling there! :)
BluPanda - cant wait to see ur progress as well, lov the armors!
Marcus - u got it right, i wanted it to b very sharp n rounded eyeballs, in another case it helps to save many tris by doing tat haha~

@Kessler: Those are pretty sweet. I'd definitely like to see how you'd pull off the middle concept
@EricElwell: Dragon Face for the win :lucky:
@nec9: Great job on the texture for the mouth. I thought you'd modeled that for a second. My only thing about yours is the textures you have for the nike's. They look somewhat photo reffed, and with the rest of the character textured so bright and cartoony, I think that breaks up your consistency.
Update:
Done with the texture. Just have to work on the base now. I'm also thinking of making a simple cutesy animation, given that I (probably) have the time

08-30-2007, 10:17 AM
Thanks Chasarsis! I also was leaning towards the middle concept. Under the suggestion of my gf, I went with the smurf orge baby thing cause it seemed to us that it was more of a proper monster. The dino guy is vampire baby in a T-Rex suit and too me that sounds like super fun. Mabey I will get the chance to make dinosuit another time! weeeeee Farewell everyone!
EricElwell

Yeah I was totally leaning towards the dino suit. It's funnier/cuter to me.
Chasarsis: Lookin good! I like the way you underlit the character. I would suggest a few things though, I really think you can stretch your values range on the texture to get more punch. Also, the form was really working on the concept, but it's getting broken up on the 3d. For example, there's clear opposing angles at the neck/head whereas that could easily be a smooth S-curve. My personal opinion is that the smooth form you have on the concept is the base that makes the character work and you are loosing that in 3d. Just my thoughts, hope you can push it a little farther :)

Greetings fellow game artisans!
I'm Alix!
I was intrigued by this mini-challenge and decided to do some quick sketches of my monster, Tomi. He was inspired by Zann's simplistic/vinyl toy style.
I will make necessary tweaks tomorrow evening after work once some of you have gotten a chance to check it out, then work on it this weekend posting progress as I go.
Glad to meet you all and hope that my stay here is an inspiring, productive, and enlightening experience for everyone.
All the best,
Oh, forgot to mention...
One of my biddies mentioned this site, Mojizu (http://www.mojizu.com/). I havn't poked around too much there yet, but it seems to have a lot of cute-stylized type designs that could be good inspiration for a comp like this.
All the best,
it's all been done before.

Kessler: Number one, number one! Please go for it, he needs to be made!
EricElwell: If you can pull off the creature you painted then you have a solid entry on your hands. It’s a good mix of the initial sketches you made not to mention solid color blending.:thumb:
Dudidam: Simple and cool, I dig! You even supplied a cool little modeling sheet on top of a solid little sketch, now I’m curious what the color schemes going to be, hmmmm.;)
Sogeking: Welcome aboard sogeking, do you plan on fleshing the design out further or is it straight to the model? Keep us posted!
Missingman: Welcome to the boards, the sketch and model so far reminds my of a baby totoro with a mustache: http://www.math.sc.edu/~griggs/Family/totoro.jpg , hehe.:lucky:
Bigheadmode: hehe I love the weird nature of this little guy and can’t wait to see him textured. By the way the second edge loop from the wrist is to close and wouldn’t help very much for deformation, I’d move it down a bit. Keep em coming!
Chasarsis: The texture is looking good so far but some parts don't feel as tight, you seem to have a high gradient look in some areas. The ears or whatever they are :inocent: in particular jump out at me. I think if you played with subtle color blends it may look a bit better. The baked in under lighting is cool but I wonder if it would be better served by doing it with real time lighting, this way you can avoid the global illumination feel and add deeper shadows for better contrast. Of course this is just food for thought and you can go with it either way, all in all good stuff.
Inpw: I'm not sure if you plan on rigging her but it looks like her arms are broken and it feels a bit unnatural. Aside from the modeling suggestion the choice colors are cool and we'll have to wait and see what you do with the bottom half. By the way she's a creepy little girl.
nec9: The modeling changes worked out well and I like where your going with this but I wonder if the light green parts on the legs add enough proper contrast. Due to him being mostly head and feet the legs feel like they’re getting lost. I would do a quick paint over and experiment with another mid tone, you may find something that sticks and if not then at least you gave it a shot. Also I would do another render with a 50% grey background, it could be that as well. Good luck!
Alix: Welcome to the boards, my favorite is the creature with the horns under the tree.
Henny: Greetings and salutations I’m glad you can join in the fun, looking at your early mesh makes me want to find my old Gumby toys! On your next post could you show some wires as well, the eyes seem a bit high tri wise and the spare poly’s could be used in making the hand a bit stronger.
Thanks for the crit Marcus, I'll give the legs another go. I can clearly see now that I don't have a whole lot of room for contrast and should probably experiment a bit more hehe.

Only got one crit so far, but I think I will explore a horned little critter beast dude thing some more based on the one under the tree sketch.
I figured since I got in later for the comp, I wanted to stick with something a little more simple, and i love Zann's piece, really inspiring.
I'll see what else I can come up with, make a decision by tomrrow night, and roll with it. I can probably get in some drawing time during lunch again tomorrow w/ some co-workers and bounce some ideas off of them.
Thanks Marcus for your opinion on my sketches thus far.:)

kessler: very colorful and fun concept, reminds me of something I would see at kid robot. I'm not really digging the hair, maybe you can submit some variations, like multiple horns, or maybe ears, alternate hair dos?
ericelwell: I love the colors you used for your concept, but my favorite monster is the middle flying chicken dude on the top row of your last sheet. would love to see you explore that concept further
bigheadmode : love your creation, reminds me of STALKER...if it were chibi'd =D Maybe do a paint over of your model before you texture and see what he would look like if that were a gas mask?
wallasaurus: no apologies necessary, love the concept, maybe you can explore some variations in the skin, like adding scales near the tail or maybe some reptilian patterns to break it up? Very unique! Reminds me of something you might see on the Island of misfit toys =)
Alixxx! Thanks for sparing some of your precious WoW time with us!! I like the character you chose but maybe you can place a luscious tree on his head with some fruit instead of just a stump!? Draw more concepts while you're at it. I am looking forward to your entry =)

If you’re referring to some sort of shader effect then yeah why not but if it's a Shag Hair like pluggin that'll add to the polycount then no. I'd stick to alphas and just texture it.
Marcus
Marcus : Heh... i guess you're right.. the totoro looks like mr bubu :D
btw, do we allowed to add "real fur" in our model or it has to be textured map?
wow kerepres, you really brought that concept to life, nice work :)
Kerepres: I think your doing a great job texturing your monster so far. He looks like one of those little Digi-mon bouncing head guys. I love the origami paper too, I actually have some of those sheets.
walasaures: Very nice concept rendering there! I agree with kicker in playing with the possibility of adding some sort of 'texture' to his skin? is he furry? as of now he looks like he is a toy rather than an actual living breathing monster...BUT this is definitely a direction you could take your piece in. If those were your intentions then great job, i believe you pulled it off in the concept nicely. You could also explore a complimented lighting scheme you can paint directly into the texture, such as an orange or purple under light on his belly and other areas. Nice work.
_____
So it seems that I will be exploring my horned creature a bit more. I will also try and whip some other ideas up too. I always find the initial design to be the most challenging part of character creation. Its tough to not get 'married' to certain ideas and break away and really let the imagination flow into the designs. Gotta keep at it, because i'll ALWAYS be learning and thats one of the most enjoyable aspects of art!

Here is my concept for modeling
http://www.daxx-web.de/bilder/cute-monster.jpg
@ Kerepres
Very cute but where is the monster in it? :)
@ kessler
Now your monster will cry with his 3 eyes! ;)
@ Frozan
Nice but i think the texture needs more sharp clear detail.
@Frozan, The texture detail looks great so far! There are some definite hints of detai there in an semi-painterly style which makes it look fun. I agree with Davision3D, the texture seems overall very flat in its value, I think upping the contrast of your lights and darks will really make the texture pop.
@Davision3D, Great concept! He has some nice playful soft forms which really push the entire 'cute' aspect of the comp...throw in some fangs and claws and you got yourself a monster! Is his right arm behind his back? One approach you could take to increase your chances of a successful model is draw a few angles of this character so you fully understand its shapes and forms and can better reiterate it in 3D space. Does he have a tail? does he have more pronounced calves from a profile view? All things that will be needed to enhance the model, but are a bit unclear from this single concept. Then again you know this character better than I do, so you might already have a pretty good grasp of his forms, but sometimes its good practice to get it on paper as well. Nice job so far though, can't wait to see the model!
3dimentia

Frozan is working in a viewport with no lights so everything is flat lit. I'm sure hes got a few tricks up his sleave. I like the work in here, keep it up ya'll.
I also work with the lights turned off while I texture, but even so I think it could use even a small jolt of contrast to really pop out those details, IMO.
I personally don't like to rely on an engine or 3D software to render the highlights and shadows on my models, I like to paint it in myself to help it pop more, I feel that I have more control with lighting within my texture than my ability to light a character successfully within Maya, but thats just me :)

Default: Kick ass design, simple yet effective. The model came out well and the last piece of the puzzle is the texture. You seem to be well on your way, good luck and I can't wait to see how it comes out since it reminds me of Death Jr.!:lucky:
Davision3d: Given the poly specs of the comp trying to retain the feel of the concept is always a challenge. With that said the mesh you have holds up and as you know it's up to the texture to do the rest.;)
ThatDon: My you've been a busy bee:), overall I like it and you really pushed the design further than I would have imagined! When I first saw the WIP the eyes seemed a bit to hot but with all of the cool detail they seemed to get a bit lost, I'd raise the eye contrast levels by 5% and you should be on your way.:thumb:
wallasaurus: At a glance I first thought it was a toy until I took a second look!
The texture has a nice feel to it and the balance is pretty spot on especially with the subtle red hue. Nice going!:)
Frozan: I love the model and the design but there something about the color that feels off. Don't get me wrong with some tweaking it can work but I did a quick paint over for an alternate view on things, I hope you don't mind. I guess I'm just a fan of earth tones, especially with organics.:)

@EricElwell: Thanks for explaining that man :). I was already at the tri limit but I moved some verts around to smooth out the profile to match the concept a bit more. Hopefully it shows ^^
@Marcus Dublin: Thanks much. I did love my high gradient area's, but I got rid of much of the pre-lighting on the texture in favor of not having it one, and handling it real time in another.
I tried playing with a spec map and my lighting and shadowing to get the results I wanted, but I think that kinda failed because I hadn't planned to light it real time from the beginning. I guess it would have been smarter for me to have made a normal map for her from the beginning ><
But I had fun painting! I've almost managed to eliminate my use of the smudge, dodge, and burn tools!
@Kerepes: Awesome dude! It really came out looking just like the concept.
@Missingman: He looks like he could be a cute one =)
I would maybe simplify the toes, and use them to round out the silhouette, though. Can't wait to see where you take it.
@ThatDon: Wow! The amount of detail you managed to wring out of your texture sheet is insane
Awesome work, as usual :D
@Poopinmymouth: :D
@Default: I love the stylization you have on yours
@Bigheadmode: I think you could push the shadows on your guy a little but more, particularly under on the legs, and under the "chin". Unless you planning on handling that in realtime, in which case just ignore me ^^;
@hennypurwadi: He reminds me of Mario for some reason :)
@Eclipse: Nice to see you here dude! I'm sad to hear you won't be texturing it, but the model is rocking!
Update:
Made it!
EDIT:
Thanks BluPanda. Changed, and added my uvmap :D

awww thats great! i love the saturation and your little blue flames. =) nicely done. The little landscape base really sells it. one suggestion I have tho is to change the color you've chosen for the background, it's brightness is close to that of your character and base so it doesn't make it POP as much as it would if the background was maybe a bit darker or less saturated.
On another note, i hope i still get a chance to finish. I've been working hard, but holiday weekend may have set me far enough back that i'm not sure i'll finish (currently visiting the fam). Still trying my best tho.

Dang Rashad that looks awesome! The final turned out really solid man. I'm upset I won't get a chance to finish him off either, but thanks for the encouraging words :D.
On a side note, where can I get the Game Artisans Logo, I guess as a PSD so I can throw it on my images.

Chasarsis Nice design and pose. I'm like colorful entryes like yours!
bigheadmode Fly-like monster very positive. Hope to see it finished.
Klash120 I'm like your speed :) Your monster remind me some from Pokemon series. Skull and bones looks cool.

I hope the purpose of the big red button is somehow recognizable.

I had just a few more minutes with the model and made use of the extra triangles on various parts like the cigar and how it comes out his mouth. Let me know what you think, I wish I could do the textures but i just don't have the time to do the uv's and texture work :(. I wish I had found out about this thing earlier, haha.

Started the mesh late Friday night. Mesh is at 500 tris, Vertex colors right now. I've been swamped with work and helping move a friend from church. Taking my rest today, and I'll hit it hard tomorrow on the holiday. woo woo!

nec9, that looks really good, but you should really consider cleaning up his eyes. It looks strange that there is a dark shaded outline that circles his pupils. Otherwise, he looks really good.

Wow Kerepres, that really does look amazing, I love the tail as well, fantastic idea that worked REALLY well with the uv since it took almost no space. Super awesome entry!
Eric, that looks really good man, and it's not even textured! The modeling on him is supurb it looks like way more then 500 tris, which is great, you really pushed the most outta the limit! I am really looking forward to the final texture.
nec9, you modeling is well done man, but I think the textures could have been a little crisper with a some more highlights to make it pop more.

Chasarsis : Thanks, man. Great to see you've finished! Your monster's one of my favourites and I love the pedestal you provided it. Lovely!:thumb:
Eclipse : Hey there! Your monster looks seriouly great. Good modeling skills I'd say. It's a shame there is not enough time for texture.
It would be cool if you decide to continue on the texture even after the competition.
EricElwell : You know... I'm starting to love this monster :D
nec9 : The eyes may not be perfect but I think it's quite expressive. Great job!
donatello : I don't know why i have a thing for cute dinosaurs. Weird... Haha... Now I'm just hoping to see it with textures...;)

Awesome Default. I would have liked to see some more lighting info on his costume, to show his forms, but I love the floating runes and overall shape. i think a better angle to show the rune, or just duplicate them several times with .01 push modifier, so that it gives it a perceived "thickness".
Great fitting base too.

Some really great stuff here everyone! I unfortunately wont be able to finish...Kicker has my wacom tablet! (grr) so I won't have access to one until tuesday. I'll be ready to bring home any necessary materials for future comps.
Awesome work, keep it up guys!

Poop - ! I see you're 6 tri's over the limit, but I will forgive you since your 256x256 texture is so full of win it makes me sick! I really love the detail around the eyes. ps. I see that you painted a peepee but there is none to be found on the model?
Zann - My goodness! It's adorable, nothing more needs to be said.
Default - Really glad you decided to enter this one, I knew it was right up your ally!

Some very nice entries! Specially zann's monster, definately cute!
I ran into a brickwall with texturing (and I ran out of time, so don't mind the presentation), so I just went for simplicity.

You guys rock, I have to say this has easily been the most active comp Game Artisans has hosted yet:D! It's really exciting to see the amount of creativity displayed among so many entries and I wish you all the best of luck. Hopefully many of you will participate in the upcoming main comp as well, it should be pretty big so be on the look out, thanks again and keep the creative juices flowing guys.:thumb:

EricElwell --> He came out exceptionally well. I don't see anything else that is needed.
KICKER --> really nice work there. After checking out your gallery, I see that your domwar entry has a similar style. It looks like you are aiming to perfect this style. If this is the case, I am looking forward to seeing your future works:)
Frozan --> I was shocked when I saw mr. environment enter this comp hehe But, you managed to carry out your hopes for environment comps in this little guy. Really nice work man. This little tree guy looks great and the pedestal came out really well too:thumb:

cool! thanks for the comments!
Poop, your dude has a lot of character to him, like I can imagine the kind of environment/game you'd find him in.
I think my favorite monster would have to be zann's. He's really stylized and sharp. Curly thingies and pointy feet! how can you go wrong?
Default, even though I don't find it that cute, I still really like that character.. I am kinda wondering what the distinction is between "cute" and "adorable" .. if leaning more towards cartoon proportions without trying to make something with juicy eyes and whatnot is just as good. Either way, I dig the style!
