- 1 x 2048 Color, Reflection Map, Specular, Specular Color Map, Normal Map, Bump Map, Opacity(transparency) Map, Glow map, and finally, Glossiness map. Feel free to break this 2048 sheet into smaller sheets that add up to 2048 total. (example: 4x1024 = 2048)
I'm a little confused about this. Are these separate maps or combined? For example, could an artist use a 2048x2048 COLOR map, a 2048x2048 REFLECTION map, a 2048x2048 SPECULAR map, etc.? Or do COLOR, REFLECTION, SPECULAR, etc., need to be combined onto a single 2048x2048 bitmap?

Yes, you have one map of each. So you have 1 x color, 1 x reflection, 1 x specular etc
I am also a bit confused about the texture maps. Can I use all the maps mentioned on the list (Color, Refl., Spec., Spec. Color Map, Normal Map, opacity..) each one in 2048*2048 in one time, or is there a limit? You know, it seams to me odd 8*2k maps for game character.

Nobody ever uses all 8 of them, so this is why it's allowed;)
Kalango --> About relief maps, yes, they are allowed for your pedestal and backgrounds, not for your weapons and character.

Hey FredH, I didt see you answer theSeanB's question and I also have the same question. Can I create a 2048x2048 texture of each component? or I must put 4 of these textures(spec, emissive, normal and diffuse for example) all in a 2048x2048?

Yes, you have one map of each. So you have 1 x color, 1 x reflection, 1 x specular etc
I thought this nailed it:eek: You have 1x2048 normal, 1x2048 bump, 1x2048 diffuse, 1x2048 spec etc. You have a 2048 sheet for everything listed.
Hope this helps :)

Hey Fred, are we aloud to use a 2048 texture map for each color, spec... Lol, I'm just kidding... I did have the same question though. I then saw this thread, laughed, and found my answer. Thanks Fred!

Hi Fred, just wanted to ask, are we supposed to make all of the above mentioned maps? :p
I thought no but then I wanted to confirm with you before I do something wrong. :o

Kerepres --> No problem:thumb:
Airflow --> Weapons have their own texture budgets. If you are doing a steed or pet, it can use either your character's budget (polies and texs), or weapon's budget (polies and texs) but not a bit from both.
