I started posting on realtimecg a while ago and I finally found time to finish it. I also had time to finally upload some stuff on my webpage. I'll be graduating in December so expect to see some new models.

This is really nice work. Really solid textures together with a solid style. I like your wolf character the most, but, there is just one tiny detail that looks off. It's his chin area. Since his hair underneath comes too close to his chin, it makes him look like he is sucking in his head. I think if you pull the hair down more to separate the distance between his chin and his hair line, this would remove this sucking-in illusion. For the deer character, this is another solid piece of work here, but the reason I like the wolf more is because the color blend in with each other more. If I took a an knife and cut your dear apart, I could easily separate him by following the strong differences between each color. I think what is needed is a color that runs along everything so that it unites the pieces. Runes? Viens? jewelry? Something small here could be an easy fix.

Still, everything looks really good. I am just being really picky:D Hope you will post some more of your work... because you really have a nice style:)

I think the reason i like the wolf more is because the fur texture is very apparent, it breaks up the previously mentioned sharp edges between colors. I realize wolves have longer hair then stags, so I'm not sure how you could incorporate that into the other model, but thats my take. I do like your texture details when I examine the stag texture, but that detail is lost when I look at the full model. Maybe its just the image quality or something.

That being said I very much respect both of your pieces and hope to see more! Good job dude.

Thanks for the critiques guys!

I will go back to the textures before I make my reel and explore some of the suggestions you offered. For the stag I was thinking about giving him a scythe wrapped with the leaves that make up his beard with some glowly purple runes engraved on an obsidian blade...let me see if I can find my concept.

I agree that there is too much differentiation and that it disrupts the harmony of color. The fur was a bit of a challenge but I think I can "push" it more. I also agree that it lacks the crispness of the wolf model as well. I will mess with his lip so that he appears less "sucky" :inocent:

I really love the WoW style, even though I would never play the game. I really appreciate low polygonal models with efficient geometry and hand painted textures. The turn around time is so much less than a next gen normal mapped character, though I will be working on two of them to wrap up my demo reel.

I will be sure to post my final reel when it is completed mid December!

Thanks again. Any more comments or crits are appreciated.
