I’m currently in talks to nail down a new book deal and this one is going to be about environment art for games. It’s going to have a full-color gallery in it and I have to get artwork from folks interested in contributing. If any of you have any environment art (which includes props, buildings, levels, etc etc) from your portfolio that is also safe to show publicly AND you’d like to see your work in print, please let me know!

Thanks for the interest! I'll definitely be contacting you two with the details in the coming weeks.
I wanted to update everyone: the book has been greenlit and will be moving into development next month, so if anyone else is interested in contributing, let me know!

Thanks to everyone who sent me PMs about their interest! I have a request, though. For some reason, I thought my PMs would be saved indefinitely but I came back to them today to start asking all of you guys about the specific images you had offered and found the majority of the PMs I had received are apparantly gone... I didn't see an option to display older PMs.
Anyway, long story short, if you had contacted me about being interested in submitting your work, I would be incredibly grateful if you PMed me again with your information. And of course, if anyone else is interested, please don't hesitate to let me know. I promise to be on top of storing everyone's information much better this time.
Here's an update: I've got 2 chapters complete and it's coming out very well!
Thanks for understanding.

It's essentially an intro into creating game art (focusing on environments and props) using current-gen techniques (minus zbrush as the Maya book publisher didn't want a different 3D app talked about in the book, so I just allude to it in the text). Creating normal maps, and other texture types, creating high-res and low-res geometry, UV mapping, Photoshop techniques, some rigging an animation, discussion regarding techniques and theory, and so on.
If you are a current pro game artist, you probably won't get too much out of it unless you are simply trying to make a transition to Maya from another app. In which case, it can help with that, I believe. Projects include creating walls, foliage, modular assets for constructing buildings, weapons... stuff like that.
The DVD also contains all project files and video recordings of me creating the assets talked about in the book. I did record every second of every project, but that turned out to be too much for the DVD to hold, so it had to be broken down. I'm wanting to see if it is possible to host that stuff in its entirety at some point.
Hope that helps!

sounds like a book I could use...
does it show how to plan and execute terrain modeling?
