Concept Sculpting In Mudbox 2009
Length: 20 mins (Real Time)
Link (http://www.vimeo.com/3257726)
I've had a lot of emails asking about how I aproach head concept sculpts and get them down in 20 - 30 mins or so. So here's a detailed video in real time explaining why and how every approach is made as I sculpt. Hopefully it gives some insight into my way of working for fast creature concepts for those that asked for it. Its only one of a number of ways I work, but with practice is something anyone can do in mud with ease.
I've kept it in real time so that its easier to see exactly what is going on at what point and why. Once at this stage normally I'd retopologise the sculpt and do the 'proper' one and take it to a finer level.

Wayne, I just want to let you know that you are crazy, and should take a holiday or even a 5 minute break sometime this year. Thanks. :D
Nice little vid there, I personally don't use mudbox, but enjoyed the full show none the less:)

OH I intend to take a few weeks off soon, plus another couple before I do the autodesk siggraph masterclass in august. I've been trying to get as much in as I can before the birth of my daughter slows stuff down a bit.

Liam: Theres some interseting forms that you could develope further there...try adding a bump map to paint any uber sharp seams in metal plates etc. :)

Thanks, Wayne. :) Not sure if I'm gonna have a WIP thread here or not, but I'll post what I do when it's over for sure. I'm not gonna do a spiderzero design, but it'll probably be influenced by his work.
And yeah, after talking to him while doing the butterball model, he said he was kinda interested in doing some 3d stuff. A shudder went down my spine when he said that. ;)
