WebWars - Senior Designer
Job description and responsibilities:
At WebWars, our company philosophy is simple - we want to make extraordinary games that bring people together. With the explosion of social media and astonishing advances in gaming development and creativity, the gaming world is now even more explicitly part of the media universe. WebWars is dedicated to creating games that acknowledge that transformation, that seek to reach players outside predictable gaming models and create new kinds of gaming communities.
WebWars is hiring a Senior Designer to work on innovative web based, high capacity, high concurrency games. The Senior Designer will be responsible for designing new game concepts, managing the design process, and working with other designers to create quality products. Qualified candidates will have experience as a senior or lead designer with casual and/or kids web based games. This position is located in Austin, TX and reports to the Senior Producer.
We think great games should be easy to learn, but difficult to master, and should provide a memorable experience for both new and experienced gamers.
Responsibilities
Drive the vision for a variety of WebWars titles.
Create design documentation, requirements, and specifications.
Work with other designers to brainstorm new ideas.
Review and provide feedback on other designer’s work.
Work with the management team to create successful business models for titles.
Manage scheduled tasks and report progress on a regular basis.
Communicate designs to other departments such as code and art.
Qualifications
4 – 5 years as a game designer.
One or more shipped titles in a senior or lead role.
Online multi-player casual game experience such as Flash games or kids games.
Experience with web based games.
Excellent understanding of the design process.
Experience designing systems that use multiple business models such as subscription and microtransactions.
Strong analytical and math skills.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
Technical background is a plus.
