View Full Version : What does your screen name mean?
Twindragon
03-03-2009, 11:43 PM
I have always wondered why certain artists choose there screen names. There are some pretty famous ones out there and I would like to know the reasons behind them.
The reason I made mine was I am an identical twin and when I was a kid I really liked double dragon so instead of double dragon I chose Twindragon.
cookepuss

Cookepuss is a take off of Cookie Puss, a Carvel ice cream cake.
http://www.carvel.com/images/products/sign_CookiePuss.gif
I hate cake, but I thought that the name sounded odd enough not to be anybody else's nick. :)

confracto
03-04-2009, 12:27 AM
a long time ago in high school, some friends and I were sitting around checking what domain names were taken. Eventually someone asked me to quickly spout some crazy word. Next thing I know, I just blurt out 'confracto?'. It got some laughs. The domain wasn't taken at the time (duh, it being completely crazy). I resolved then to do so (it actually points to my GA page right now). Eventually it just became my online handle for everything, since it's unique enough to never be taken anywhere.
YdoUwant2know
03-04-2009, 12:28 AM
YdoUwant2know....
As in the question: Why do you want to know?
It is a moniker I have been using since like the 5th grade when I first starting using the internet. I guess I thought at the time it was a funny play on words with the whole anonymity of the internet. I actually remember the first time I used it. It fit perfectly into the name box of some chat room on Prodigy.
I guess it is something that I just have kept ever since. I even use it for online gaming. Look for me on BF2142 sometime. The name is the same.
Dusty

Dusty
According to legend, Dusty was the name given to old dirty furniture. It was also assigned to me at birth.
seven
03-04-2009, 01:17 AM
conveniently the seventh number in most numbering systems... In some specific cases it can accurately portray how many of an item is in a particular area. In Roman times it looked like this "VII" which stunningly enough also shows up on some clocks with hands. Oddly enough it is the fourth prime number... and four is the number of letters for some of my favorite words. Seven is also the number of orifices in the human skull. Seven days in the week.... seven deadly sins... wait... that's it....
A long time ago I used the handle se7enthcin when I would play an fps or interacted with anyone online. It originated from the movie seven and in that movie the seventh deadly sin in order of appearance was wrath. Therefore it seemed fitting as I "pwned some noobs" before there was such a thing as "pwning" or "noobs". After playing in tournaments my clan mates would just call me seven. Then came .seven one night as we were placing random characters in front of our names. This came to be an extension of myself and usually what I prefer. Most forums do not allow periods before the name. So mostly I just go with seven.
I've been debating on using my real name on some forums.
walrus
03-04-2009, 01:40 AM
About 16 years or so ago when I started up my own web site, I wanted a pun for the name. My friends and I were into walruses in college, and so I named my site "Your Walrus Hurt the One You Love" and came up with a purple walrus mascot. Years later when I started participating on forums, I used my site's walrus as my online handle and avatar. I go by walrus on a number of other art sites, including CGTalk, DrawingBoard.org and PixelBrush (and really resent the jerk who unwittingly stole my name on ConceptArt.org.)
...My friends and I were into walruses in college...
Best line ever.
Mine comes from way back in the Diablo II days of yore. Mephisto -> Maphistal -> people shortened it to Maphi -> I shortened it to Maph.
Force of habit I suppose. :) I use it everywhere now.
WestCoastWitch

Being able to draw is like having real magic powers~ so I am magical art witch that lives in CA. ~
i read many books of mythology and fantasy storys years ago.
and i love one of them (dont know it was a myth or a story -.-´), in this story you loose all you memories if you drink from the waters of styx (a mystic river).
i must say, i have a terrible memory...i forgot my fire, my keys....in one year i have forgot MY own birthday (no joke).
so i think its a good nick. ^^
DemonPrincess
03-04-2009, 06:12 AM
10 years ago I started up an Elfwood gallery to post my drawings. Most of them were of musclebound demon guys, so my friendly neighbourhood Elfwooders dubbed me "Demon Princess". Although the Elfwood account is long abandoned, the name stuck. I think it's kinda lame now, but everyone knows me by it. At times I considered switching to my real name, but my real name is even more lame, so I didn't. :lucky:
Yozora
03-04-2009, 06:46 AM
I just googled for a cool name that isn't an actual name of any popular character/person/thing and doesn't consist of more than 1 word, numbers, symbols or internet/texting slang.

lord long long ago one of the first gf's was Japanese, I needed an odd ball name for something, she gave me this name which stuck as a handle. It carried over in games I played and I later came to find out its very very close to and anime series name.

McPandaBurger
03-04-2009, 07:58 AM
My mates and I were sitting in Mc donalds talking about how there could be just about anything stuffed in the burger I was eating, all sorts of animals and other disgusting things, Me saying they can launch a Mc Panda Burger some time later seemed to stick and became my handle for games and art and stuff like that. Also my domain - no site up yet though.
nihilicon
03-04-2009, 08:24 AM
nihil-icon
nihil: from the latin "nothing"
icon: as in icon
"nothing icon" or "icon of nothing" whichever you like best :) My real name is David Herd and I use that on conceptart.org.
Draxxuss
03-04-2009, 09:40 AM
It stems from Video games and depends on which style of game I am playing at the time... UT style it is Draxxuss , Fantasy genre it is Draxxuss the Dark, Lord Draxxuss, WW2 and army style it is of course Lt. Dan.. unless some other goof took it from me first! ;)
Codeman
03-04-2009, 10:36 AM
Codeman - A nickname I got from a friend (12 years ago) because my name is Cody and I am always on the computer.
Yung - The last word in my chinese name, which means brave/courageous. The other word means handsome. Ask my parents, they gave me the name.
Niarbon
03-04-2009, 12:22 PM
When I started playing WoW and made my first char every name I tried was taken. I have this weird habit of reading words backwards, so the next thing that came to mind I flipped backwards, name wasn't taken, I thought it was funny so it stayed with me. Kind of a no brainer *hint hint*.

Mine is part of the name to a Coheed and Cambria song. Happens to be one of my favorites of theirs, and started as my xbox live ID. Guess it caught on from there. Better than my misspelled DoD/CS handle from when I was 12 and 13... Umpa Lumpa lol
KEDavidson
03-04-2009, 02:12 PM
mine started just as Scudz back in the quake/action quake days until bf 1942 came along, my AI classmates and i would play for hours and i got to be such a good pilot that i could kill other people with just the wings of plane and flying very low, after that i added the Almighty to rub it in....
though these days it's more of an ironic thing in most games...
DejaVooDoo
03-04-2009, 02:15 PM
Deja Vu is a concept that fascinates and confounds me. And the Wachowski brothers only made it worse!
Growing up in Louisiana, i think the term Voodoo stuck in my head the most through Mardi Gras parades and such that used it as a theme. The vision of some old lady in a dark room, candles lit, charms hanging, surrounded by cobwebs, conjuring souls, summoning magic, and stabbing a doll representing your enemy is stuck in my head forever.
So, DejaVooDoo was the perfect pairing!

makoa
03-04-2009, 03:51 PM
nice thread idea! cool to read everybody's explanations...
makoa is my hawaiian middle name. apparently he was a warrior for king kamehameha and could run so fast that he could catch a fish on one side of the island and return to the otherside with the fish still wiggling. pretty cool huh? yea whatever.
nobody really calls me makoa, although they do call me kenny, kendogg, kendobi, kendoja, kensonasty, killa kong, double k, KK, kong, shakakong, etc.
typhus22
03-04-2009, 03:54 PM
walrus- walrus is slang for a fat chick right? so does that mean you were into the big uns?
typhus means smoky or hazy state of mind and 22 is my lucky number.

zeke3d
03-04-2009, 04:17 PM
I got the nickname zeke, when too many people started calling me ezekiel, eventually I started to fall in love with the z-starting name. when it came time to comeup with a forum name I simply added 3D to the end of it and tada, zeke3D. the story of how I got my real first name is alot more intresting. I will say as far as my forum name is concerned, ive seen alot of people have been adding 3d to their names... I guess thats what you get when your lazy like I am, hopefully I will hang in there and the rest will fade away. :)
walrus
03-04-2009, 04:46 PM
walrus is slang for a fat chick right?
what?! No, I'd never heard that before. No, we just thought walruses - the animals - were cool. I think my friend Carl who was into them most was a big Beatles fan.

K - San
Started back in college. I had and adorable Japanese TA from Fukuoka who would say every morning when I came in " Ohio gozaimasu, Kasurin-san!" in her little singsong voice. I thought it was just damn cute. I used to go by Tater, which was a terrible nickname that I don't really want to explain how I got. So when it cam time to replace it...why not Kasurin-san? (my name as close as you can get in Japanese). Ill tell you why, its long and easily spelled wrong.
So I made it just K-san....Ksan. I liked it, so Ive stuck with it. Although it is rude to address yourself as san ...I don't refer to myself by the name, so I figured it was cool.
mainichi
03-05-2009, 12:59 AM
Mainichi I think meant everyday in some other language, and since I played wow everyday it seemed fitting.
Babypowder(used more often as character names.) I use because I had this job for about a week and my cheeks chaffed super bad everyday cause of all the running and walking so I used alot of babypowder and it was sitting by my monitor when I was trying to think of a name!

im just a crazy gamer :D
but now at the age of 17 i realized

:D:cool:
Funny thread hehe, my nick was actually based on the different positions on a soccer field, spits means striker in Dutch, and 9 stands for the number on the t-shirt of a striker (van Nistelrooij etc.), a striker is better known for making runs to beat defenders, trying to beat the offside trap and playing close to the goal area, they are typically recognised as quick, with good reaction speed and given few defensive responsibilities.
Centrifuge
03-06-2009, 02:28 PM
warning: I'd like to apologize in advance for how long this will probably be, lol.
this is very interesting to read, kinda cool to see where everyone gets their pin-names and what not, even if it is just your actual name. I myself have a rather confusing history with online handles ( i actually have a file containing a list of all my handles and pswd's cause I often forget some of them, cause they are all saved by firefox and I hardly ever have to type them...) people always ask me why I use so many different names and how come I don't just use one across the board. my answer is...I just do. I think of alot of cool names I like so instead of only using one, I use all the ones I like.
nehow enough of all that, you all know me as Centrifuge (a device that rotates at very high speeds in order to separate denser and lighter materials, usually liquids). I came up with that because it almost perfectly describes how my thought process as well as my design process works, from brain to wacom/paper. I think of multiple ideas all the time often all at once. and the more I think about them and write them out, the more solid ideas begin to stand out from the flimsy weak ones, and then its off to the wacom or the sketchbook (if im not there already). its one of my favorite things about creativity, and it's also one of my worst flaws, because I often sit around sketching and writing ideas, instead of producing finished works, lol. newayz...the end, lol. great thread topic btw

SHockaday
03-08-2009, 04:32 PM
My screen name originates from well before I had ever heard the term "spam-mail". (In retrospect, I should really stop using this nickname.) My friends in high school nick-named me Spam, referring to the canned meat product. (my real name is Sam, and they were VERY original...)
"Spambergo" came from my Spanish class, where my friends tried to convince the teacher to let me use it as my "Spanish-name." She wasn't impressed by the idea, but I ended up using it as an online nickname, and I still use it to this day :P
Cunipshun

hmm as i found this....first day i signed up lol (didnt wanna lurk then)
and as i was thinking of a name i thought of a phrase from date movie
(from glens mother i think the phrase was "Don't be in a Cunipshun")
and the word sounded amazing as i continually kept repeating it in my head
but i didnt kno how to spell it so i came up with what i have now
i think it means " To be unable to choose between 2 or more things"

My name I ripped out of a quote from the movie Gladiator. " A wise man once told me DEATH SMILES upon us all, all a man can do is smile back." I think that the first time I used it was for Splinter Cell 2 Online, which is still probably my favorite online game ever. I mean sneaking around breakin other catz neck, you just can't beat that!!

True_Saint
03-09-2009, 09:48 AM
well i use to help people a lot, mainly friends with there problems lol i was the guy they would come to when they needed someone to talk to. and one day, one of my friends said i was like a Saint, there to help when help is needed and there to serve and protect those who mean a lot to me :D thus the name Saint arises. my SN would of been just Saint but its already taken. so i put True in front of it :D
Snowfly
03-09-2009, 09:57 AM
I got mine from Snowfly Forest, an area in Vagrant Story. Borrowed the name for a couple of reasons...it was my favorite game at the time, I loved the background music in that level, and the fact that snowflies in the game weren't rendered as anything more than little white orbs, so I always wondered what they looked like.
Some of my earlier attempts at 3D and concept art were of snowflies.

The real answer to how creative you are lies in whether your real name is "Stu" or not: You get major creativity bonus points if your real name is something else. :)
(...unless your real name is 'Disco' in which case you lose all awarded creativity points and they go to your parents instead.)

Deto.. I used to be dragon nerd, and ultima nerd. And before I became combined nerd I used nickname Dzeron (which sounded dragonic enough when said Dzeroniethanyx aww thanks :D)... which was too difficult to explain everytime I had to give out my e-mail or website. When I figured out I can combine my two nerdnesses at UDIC (Ultima Dragons Internet Chapter) I became Deto Dragon. Deto was for Detonation, and it was somewhat similia to Dzeron. And it was easier to pronounce, explain, tell, give and so on..
And hence forth I was known as Deto outside world.
Stupid explanation, but anyways. DETOnation. Deto. It was easy and short and it stuck. Can also be said as "De Thou" which is fun.
And one day out of boredom I thought 'Digital Excuse To Omnipotence', thanks Shodan, thanks gaming :paper:
I am know on a few different forums by different names:
GED: My initials G. E. D.
SilverTalon: from talon of the silver hawk by raymond e fiest - cool story

Mogster... *shrug* i like moogles, and Mog was cool back in the FF6 days ;p
Xaltar
03-09-2009, 05:10 PM
Xaltar was a name I made up for a character in a short story I wrote whilst still at school in the 90's. I have used it as my handle ever since. It used to be unique but recently some gay religious band decided to steal it. I have considered changing it but decided not to seeing as I am known by the name on way to many boards. Oh and if you google it DO NOT go to thier website its trojan infested. Apparently I'm not the only one who hates religious propaganda. I stick to the philosophy of "believe what you like but leave me the F##@ alone." Hopefully they will flop soon and I will have my nick to myself again...
= Secret
Been using this name since god knows when.. I picked it out when I was looking at an Italian/English dictionary.. :paper:

some dude misspelled bounce during a game of counter strike. I was hunting for a new name at the time and thought the misspelling 'bounch' was funny. so I went and took it. then added fx. because I like audio, music, and sound effects. and because i thought it sounded decent after the word bounch. it's also unique, I think.

Har Har Har....funny guy :lucky:
The "That" in my name comes from the use of it in a phrase such as "That mother #!$#&@" or "That Son of a #*$#&" or just "That guy...." but of course I'm not just "That guy"
I'm "ThatDon"
Silly explanation, I know, but you get the point and at any rate it seems to be pretty memorable :D

Oh man, never saw a very unique thread like this before.
For anyone see my name, WhiteGuardian should be remind with someone's name right? I ever googling the word WhiteGuardian and i found it refer to someone.
But, i can promise you that i chose this name before i knew that the name was used by others. :)
When i firstly join in cg forum, i still confuse what name will i chose, i just think that i have someone that i really love and need to be protected. :D So i pick guardian rather than protector. For the "white" word, i just wanna make me was a nice guys. White identic with good thing, holy, wise and etc. So i mix it and got WhiteGuardian. :thumb:

Force of habit I suppose. :) I use it everywhere now.
I got mine from the musical CATS.....go figure
but I get a lot of people who confuse Mestophales with Mephistophales (Mephisto) from the Faust story.

UGGGGHHHHHH
If you don't mind me asking, How did you manage to collapse a lung?
Blah, my name is a bit lame. Back in highschool we had a chinese classmate who basically shortened everyone's names into 1 syllable, but managed to still mispronounce the nicknames he bestowed. (My favorite was how he called Robert Deniro; ROBOT Deniro).
For some reason he spelled my name with an S at the end (which isn't really there) and phonetically pronounced that 'S' anyways.
Jeff = Jif
Vikash = Vik
Jacque = Jox
So I Had to write initials when we got the high scores in the arcade
After most of the arcades in my area started to censor the fun names, like ASS, FUK, TIT, POO, DIK, etc, we started using the names bestowed upon us.

It started off back in 2001 when I was working on an adult project and needed a handle to cover my true identity. I choose a spoonerism for Bill Gates because I am like the bizzaro version of him. Or at least I was at the time.
Hes PeeCee and I was religiously Mac at the time (I have since sold out) :o
Hes white, I'm not.
Hes rich and well I'm still broke. :ack:
His wife is ugly and mine is FINE! :paper:
I thought of a ton of reasons back in 2001 but these are the only reasons I can recall at the moment. :D

Mine is a combination of my usual internet nickname, while another is a nickname bestowed upon me. I just combined them together for the fun of it. :D

03-11-2009, 08:10 PM
In 2003 I did some work for a low budget TV show.
The show was a TV news parody, kind of like the Colbert report is now.
I did all of the graphics for the show.
Rather than credit me with a dozen credits, they simply crowned me "pimp of pixels"
Not long after that, I was trying to find a good nickname for a youtube account, and I found pimpofpixels to be available.
The rest is history.

I think i wanted to post something on cgtalk years ago and I needed to think of a name quickly cause I was hard up to post whatever it was I wanted to post.
I was into 3D modeling and I have a penis.
Now I'm thinking of changing my name to either "Parnell" or "Subshape".
We'll see!

My name means a triangle or a three sided polygon. Which is, of course, related to my love for 3d :D
Frump
03-12-2009, 03:14 AM
It goes into the origins of my longer more widely used nick. Frumplstlskn. I've tried to make it more sleek and easy to read over the past year. On top of that trying to not be associated with any trail of bad internet use I might have had in the last 6 or so years.
In 8th grade I needed a nick for an online mmo... At the time I thought the word frump was hilarious and the game was somewhat medieval. That reminded me of the Rumpelstiltskin fairy tale. in my 13 year old genius I mashed the two words together-BUT WAIT! There was not enough input room, which led to me butchering it down to frumplstlskn. That stuck for a number of years and people online would just refer to me as Frump as it was.
Nothing special here was raised around a religious environment, probably like most of you and sinning was a big deal at the time, no one seems to care anymore.
So I ended becoming the "black sheep" of the family and I tagged myself sinz because no matter what I did I seem to be sinning in the eyes of the lord ;) or doing some form of bad/evil thing against his will:D.
I think the tag pretty much could fit anyone really...hence the clones sprouting up .
Had the tag for a loooong time.
I think this thread was a pretty good idea, I was debating on posting or not since my little story isn't as cool as everyone elses.

Guedin !
In french, you say "dingue" to say crazy ... Guedin, it's din-gue backwards
i started to use this nickname 5 years ago, in high school, with a friend, who was call scarla, lascar ( which means gangster in french) . We did some funny sketch show about bad boys

he he he,nice thread.
SinEater:it was an enemy of venom in his comics series,he was a war veteran that was going around killing people that had made huge sins, before killing them he usually quoted some verses taken from the bible that where fitting for their sins.i was fascinated by that character and decided to take that name.part of the reason is related to family stuff too,but this is another story...

Jeff = Jif
Vikash = Vik
Jacque = Jox

Tushay good sir, tushay!
My real name is Gordon.
One day, my brother in law started calling me "Godo Baggins". We thought that was hilarious. At that time I was using DrWho1313 for most forums and chat. Have been changing it over to Godo since then. It's a lot more fitting.
Bbox85
03-13-2009, 01:40 AM
My real name is Tris... My life used to be very hip-hop influenced so my friends would call me B-Tris... Result of being a Breaker aka B-Boy... Then my friends started saying 'B-Tris off the Box!' I have no idea what that meant but it went on for a good few months... then they just started calling me Box... So with all of that.. I came up with Bbox... and 85 is the year I was born. Dude... wtf!? That's seriously how I came up with the name? I haven't really thought about the whole course of events that led up to it until now. Wow... all that for a silly name that isn't even that cool. Haha

Really neat to find out everytones reasons. As for me, I used to absolutely adore cats when i was little (still do, although now it's respectably under control) And kittens, And kit kat bars. So i reversed it up and it became Catkit. :thumb:

heh interesting thread. My real name is David Kuo, hence the dk. as for the "reset" ... I had such a hard time finding a 3d artist position after I graduated. I went back to Taiwan right after graduation for 2 months and missed my opportunity, but in my despair I managed to start again and worked towards my goal... that's when I decided to use "reset". It's been my forum name ever since ... i used to use something retarded lol so I thought this one sounded more appropriate, or um, less retarded haha

I don't have the foggiest clue. I like animals, and have lots of pets. So maybe that might have something to do with it. Though I certainly wouldn't wish rabies upon any animal. I like my icon, they go hand in hand. However, I am known for working at a veracious rate. So I guess I'm a fast artist, that likes animals, and that translates somehow?

Pearl - Brand of Drums
Zildjian - Brand of Cymbals
And I prefixed it. The end.
I was trying hard to think of a character name one day, and for some reason the word avid popped into my head. I like how it looks typed out, and how it sounds.
av⋅id
/ˈævɪd/ [av-id]
–adjective
1. enthusiastic; ardent; dedicated; keen: an avid moviegoer.
2. keenly desirous; eager; greedy (often fol. by for or of): avid for pleasure; avid of power.
Trino
03-14-2009, 11:00 PM
Trino - from the word Neutrino.
noun
-an elementary particle with zero charge and zero mass.
-an uncharged elementary particle that is believed to be massless or to have a very small mass, that has any of three forms, and that interacts only rarely with other particles.
I figured it kinda suits me since I'm passed over for more experienced modelers.
poopinmymouth
03-31-2009, 09:49 AM
Well, since it was requested. The (not so) epic tale.
When I was in high school, I had a friend who, when we were hanging out, would always try to one-up each other with embarrassing things in public. I was bothering him at the food-court in the mall, and he pushes back his chair, stands up, and proclaims loudly enough for all to hear, "What? You want me to poop in your mouth? That's disgusting!". Of course I was embarrassed, everyone was looking at me, and nothing I could say would have bettered the situation. From then on, it was the ultimate term of getting someone really good in public. He just pooped in your mouth, man. I even gave him a box, with a mouth shape cut out, with real dog poop in it for his birthday one year.
I saw that most people back in the day, had clever nicknames, so they all blended together. I wanted one with a little shock value, so I used that. I figure it would stick in people's minds, and would be a good little intro to my type of humor. Plus it's unique enough that I don't have to fight for google hits with anything else. (There is a CNN sports writer with my same real name)
dinojazz
04-01-2009, 06:29 AM
dinojazz - it comes from my nickname : "the dinosaur" because I am tall and grumpy looking (I am very sensible to light, and that's why I look grumpy) and jazz, because jazz is the music I love and based on the principles of jazz i work and live, freedom above all.
Another thing, is this forum only for graphic artists?

Razvan-Sedekiah
04-01-2009, 12:34 PM
What does my Forum name mean?
Razvan is a variant on the angelic name Raziel.
Raziel is the Angel of Mysteries.
Razvan is the angel of the treasures of paradise.
Sedekiah is a "treasure finding" Angel whose name is inscribed on the pentacle of the planet Jupiter.
Why did I pick that name?
I am obsessed with Angel names from all over the world.
I picked the combination Razvan Sedekiah, because both angels have treasure associated with the name.
I kept it because I like to think that I can find the treasure in each person... I like to encourage people to peruse their creative endeavors, because I think the end product is treasure, as well as the person!
I also have a strong liking of the angel Raziel (Razvan is a variant of Raziel), because I love to create mystery.

(It's also a horrible name kids called me when I was little that made me cry myself to sleep on my huge pillow.....j/k)
KungFu_Jesus
04-08-2009, 08:02 AM
Heh I was kinda interested in poop's story but seeing as I'm here now I'd just like to clarify that I am In NO WAY Religeous at all...
Jesus in general has kinda stuck around me from people I'd skate with during college n the beginning of uni due to my appearance at the time, and odd miraculous things I'd do lol.
But the Main 'KungFu_Jesus' was from a film my friend wanted to make based on the miracles of jesus but if it was a kungfu flick. for example:
"The Feeding of the 5000" into "De-feating of the 5000" in which he would break open the bread to reveal numchuks.
I needed a new email and it was free and now I use it for otherthings too plus I found this awesome gif which appears to have been made from SF Gen, altho sadly I do not bear such a resemblance any more. >_>

janus
04-12-2009, 04:50 AM
I've used one or two over the years but the two that I've used most are my one here 'Janus' and my most known one 'DarthWayne'. There is a story behind each.
DarthWayne
I have always been a massive Star Wars fan and it was the handle I used for years on star wars forums when the prequels were being made. As I really coudn't be arsed to remember more than one log in name when I started 3d I kept using it. (I sort of regretted that after a while though lol as it makes me sound like a bit of a dick.) I got into 3d by acident when I saw a star wars fanboyt try to pass off a 3d model made by someone else as his own work..and after exposing him I thought to myself "Hey! how hard can it be to make stuff in 3d? It can't be THAT hard" (I still shudder at that memory lol.)
Janus
A bit darker this one... Back when I was getting treated by most zb guys onzb central like I had bad dose of the clap I came up with a plan to use the fact that I change style regularly to create an alter ego and try to build a secondary career totaly seperate to my main one. I tried to pick a name that loked good and was short enough to look good as text. I then realised it was a really fucking stupid idea and that maybe I needed to calm down the ego a few million notches and let the art doing the talking for me. So it was never used much. I use it here for a change and I get a bit less heat as a result oddly enough.
There are others I've used over the years but those two have slightly more interesting stories. Now you've just got to work out the reason for the 3 dots in my sig...so far in over 10 years online no one has. ;) Although this could be as they couldn't care less lol.
Wayne...

shinobix
04-29-2009, 02:13 PM
shinobix comes from two things. 1: I loved the Shinobi games by Sega when I was a kid, and 2: X is awesome! If you want to make something awesome just put an X at the end of it... Like Weapon-X for eXample... Har Har.
Really I wanted my hotmail account to be shinobi@hotmail.com, but that was taking so I slapped an X on the end of it... and it just seems to have stuck!

miezis is my last name, it also means "barley" in Latvian :)
asstornado
05-15-2009, 03:06 PM
hmmmmmm. In college I used asiantornado, since I'm asian, then somehow it evolved into asstornado, which is essentially a whirlwind of ass. I use butttornado for most of my gamehandles and stuff now since its less explicit, but Gameartisans has no boundaries. :)
Look for me on xbox live and call of duty 2 for PC (BEST GAME EVER!)
blacker
05-18-2009, 06:22 PM
Used to go by blackehawke back in the days of BBS's, that's bulletin board systems to you youngsters, which I'd dial up my 14.4 (or slower?) modem to access. Anyway, blackehawke is a pretty long handle, and blackhawk (without those mysterious E's the English so love) is strangely kind of popular. Oh, and I'm lazy sometimes. ;) So I shortened it to blacke. Then when it was taken on other sites or when things inevitably f'ed up with whatever I planned to use the name on (email accounts, for example) I simply added an r... I'm actually nearly white enough to be albino. :D
grimdc13
05-19-2009, 05:03 PM
grimdc13 comes from Grim a RP character of my friend Razvan-Sedekiah and mine and the grim reaper, DC is short for De Corrovaggio ..De= of and Corrovaggio in Italian means Crow..It comes from the play Volpone or the Fox where all the characters are named after animals.I had to read alot of plays as theater major. Grim Crow is basically what it means. And 13 comes from my lucky number, and the song Pretty fly for a white guy.."yeah he's getting a tattoo, yeah he's getting ink done, he wanted a 13, but they drew a 31."
2000yearsoldman
05-20-2009, 03:19 PM
2000yearsoldman came form a old cartoon I watched in the college called: 2000 year old man. It actually is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000_Year_Old_Man
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/cd/2000yo.jpg
Then one day I was try to sign up to a website, I can't think any other names that is not been taken, then I add "s" in "2000 year old man" and make them in one word, later on it become my user name for cyborg space.

carotello
05-20-2009, 04:02 PM
I was born and grew up in Chile, and I attended an all girl catholic school. My name Carolina, is often nicknamed Caro, and my paternal last name is Tello, so my classmates called me Caro Tello, but pronounced it as one word. I hated the name because it sounded masculine to me at the time. After years of trying to think up clever names for my illustration signatures, I decided to come to terms with the oldest nickname I hated and embrace it.
What's funny about it is most people in forums assume I am male, so I guess it does sound masculine...oh well.

actually a guy name deuce :lucky: named me Skillet about 15 years or so ago
I would greet people with the usual "sup ' home skillet", except for one guy who entered during an unfortunate Hardey's Commercial
He got "RoastBeef" as his moniker (it seemed fitting sense he was a vegetarian  )
the 3D bit came about b/c seems other people have the Skillet nickname, and a URL goes to some band named Skillet
kinda bummed me out, I just wanted plain ol' Skillet
