So I know many of my fellow artists will be going for some pretty swank redesigns of their favorite characters. I'm going to take a slightly different route, staying closer to the original character while adding some detail focused alterations to his design. My sketch is pretty quick, I will sort out details as i model, but i would like to add good detail to his outfit. I would also like to make him expressive, which probably means facial animation. If i can make him feel dynamic like the animated version of Naruto I will be happy.

hey thanks for the kind words, guys! I finally got some more work done on the model - my day job keeps me busy :inocent:

Heh this is looking good! Though I think the face can be tweaked further, but I guess you can do that in Zbrush. Good luck fellow, I think with the 1 week extension you can finish this piece.

Great work so far. I'd try adding some hair to the back of his head. Now it just looks like the back of his head is shaved. But you haven't textured yet so I cant really say much on that.
I love the leather jacket kind of feel. It really works with Naruto. I suggest adding some more zippers on his pockets to really explore that idea.

thanks guys. yeah i agree the head needs some more work. going to try and wrap that up. i tried pulling his bottom lip out a little to give him a little expression but maybe it doesn't work so hot right now... i find it challenging to try and get the anime look without giving him some kinda freaky child likeness.. going to zbrush some wrinkles into the outfit too.
