For the final beauty shot, does it have to be rendered in a 3D program (ideally the one where most of the production happened) or could we take it...say into the Unreal 3 engine and even use assets from the game to help beef up the final render (instead of just a character on a pedastal).

Cheers.

last year's rules:
-
For all final images, all shaders that ship with UT3, HL2, Crysis, idTech4 and Xnormal are allowed. Standard, non node-based shaders within Max, Maya, and XSI are allowed. No manual HLSL editing via code, and no node-based shader creation.
-
Lighting: For the winning pose image, enhanced lighting solutions like VRay, Mental Ray, Brazil etc., are prohibited. You may only use standard lights together with standard shadows.
-
For beauty and contruction shots, the above lighting restrictions do not apply - feel free to use anything.

Sorry, just a few more questions.

Whats the difference between the wining pose and the beauty shot? I've had a look at some of the entries for Dom War 1+2 (Cant get into the Dom War 3 page as its taking me to the Unearthly Challenge page) and it seems that there are beauty shots, construction shots, concept art and texture sheets but can't find a winning pose anywhere.

Also (I probably should have been more specific) but are there rules against using say loading your final model into an existing Unreal Tournament map so that you have some assets to help enhance your final shot?

just wait till the rules man, there's bound to be changes since DW3 and hundreds of people will be asking questions and it will all be made abundantly clear what we can and can't do
