I'm finally able to start posting progress. I did a lot of small thumbnails and took ideas from a number of them to create my concept. Here's a quick pen sketch of the concept for this character. I've only seen a few Naruto episodes before this challenge. I watched a few online for ideas. Came across this character in one of the episodes and thought he might be kinda cool to recreate. The main inspiration for his outfit came from referencing ancient Chinese warriors. I also used a few Japanese demon heads to decorate the armor. His outfit will mainly be black and red like in the show.

As for his sword, I liked the idea that it consisted of multiple sharp edges. He said in the episode I saw "My sword doesn't cut, it shaves." The thing I didn't like was that the sword didn't at all look threatening. Looked more like a giant duster. I retained the idea of a sword that shaved but gave more of a sword form.

I agree about your sword direction. It looked really lame in the show. Giving the sword a much needed redesign was a good choice. Nice work on the redesign. The only thing I don't really fancy is that little shark fin that comes out of his sword hilt. It seams really misplaced. For the figure, again nice work! I really like his boots. This will make a really good entry in 3d. Bring on the 3d now!:)
