Hmm, ok, I don't know if anyone brought this up yet, and I don't really want to sounds like a Debbie Downer or anything, but is it me, or are some of the prizes for champions a bit unessential?
I mean... if you're the CHAMPION of Dwar for painting, that would mean you're a pretty freakin awesome painter... but then you win a collection of Gnomon DVDs on how to paint? Or... if you're the Champion of 3D, and you won by making this awesome model in zbrush, and you're prize is another copy of zbrush?:s
Course, i don't mean to sound nitpicky, cuz i personally would LOVE a collection of Gnomon videos, and there are millions out there, i'm sure, with "not-so-illegal" copies of zbrush, but thought it might be an interesting topic to address, because i'd hate to see all those prices just end up being hocked on ebay. :phew:

~ Many of the prizes are often offered up by the sponsors. Don't forget that Joining Dominance War is free; so essentially the only way to fund it is via sponsors and advertising.
Why would Pixologic sponsor the event and then give away money instead of copies of Zbrush? That would make no sense...
To be honest the prizes are pretty amazing considering its all run without any sign up fee

Very true, but thought it would be cool if Fred could get his hands on a publishing sponser. Maybe the winners get a page in Expose or something. Eitherway, might be too difficult to work around. :)

Don't forget the Cintiq! Thats a Godsend prize for any painter or Zbrush sculpter/modeler. Not many people have one.

Funny, I never even looked at the prizes! :)
But in general, the more you learn, the more you know that you have a lot to learn. Even if you already know how to paint, getting Gnomon DVDs IS a real prize. The Gnomon Workshop Analogue Bundle is over 80 DVDs and is several thousand dollars forth of value. I won that bundle in a contest recently - thus proving I know how to paint - and going through them - which at this rate will take me 17 years - has been great! There's so much information, even if you're not a beginner.
Personally, I'd rather win an iPod touch than an intuos - I already have one of those - but Pearl is right, no one turns up his or her nose at a Cintiq!

Agreed with Walrus. Most artists in our profession swear by Gnomon. It doesn't ever matter how good you are, learning is a never ending thing.
I would actually rather have the intuos, since I have to borrow my friends to do my work currently, lol, so he'd be happy if I finally got one of my own. Plus I already have a Sansa media player. iPod touch is obviously better, but mine does the job, lol.
I always coveted the Cintiq though. Ever since I had a chance to mess around with that Dell laptop that flips the screen around and you can draw on it like a cintiq, I was awe-struck. lol

~ Some prizes would cost huge amounts in shipping costs to send to people if they aren't in North America.
If that's the case then they just send you money (about the cost of the prize they Would have sent you)
