All the weapons, and all the accessories, in 1,000?
So my lovely lady with a sniper rifle and powerclaws (which barely fit into the 1000 polygons) can't have any pistols or daggers, cos they wont fit.
Now, what about a pistol in a holster? Can that count in the 6k for the Shadow? The gas mask hanging from her belt? The mini grenades in her hip bandolier (hip = top of thigh, not hip = cool).

If she can take them out and use them, then they come out of your bonus 1000 poly budget. If it's just on your character for decoration, then they should come out of your character budget.
Hope this helps:)

Great!
I'll tell her not to use them. She'll be annoyed, because she saved up all her cash from the Yale campaign to buy those Botulism grenades.
I have some basic armor thats pierced into the body by having big cilinders put underneath muscles (the armor is detachable from the cilinders), its a constant pain for them wich would fit my backstory very wel since they are addicted to pain. it has also a big blade thats held by his tails
Can I use the 1000 poly armor and weapon budget for them?

If my character base mesh comes in at 5200 tris and my weapons come in at 1015 tris would that be OK?
FredH

nope, it is not ok. It's 1000 max and 6000 max. If you can use less, great. But you are not allowed to use more.

Thanks! I can still make that work.

Here is a pic to show you what I meant
If it would only stick with these it wouldn't have been a problem, I could texture them on. but there will be more that float more, so I would have to actually model them

ah, I see. No, it would have to come out of your character budget because the parts that you highlighted looks like they are infused into your creature. The 1000 bonus weapon budget is primarily for weapons and gear that keep changing during a game.
Really nice concept by the way:)
These things are detachable.. (They are meant to show rank, so they would change as you go up in the ranking listah!) ..the plates can be taken off but the cylinders (little circles on the legs) are stuck trough the body so for that I will use the body budget but the plates I would like to use the weapon and gear budget... please? :inocent: I will name my children after you.. I Pwomis :p

But they part of the model - they ain't a weapon or accessory.

Bah, my character has holy flame as a weapon, but because it comes out of her back, I have to use 500 of my 6000 tri budget, and have her main weapon as the 1000. So I doublt your emblems should qualify.... besides, do em in zbrush....

i have weapons design for my character that are mounted, guns that connect like components. right now i'm leaning towards building a four barrel 50mm cannon. but in game it could it easily could be switched with a rail gun or a particle cannon as you traverse different levels. i guess my question FredH, is will a mounted weapon count against my character polys or weapon polys?

Still dont know what i can count with the weapon and deteachable gear tricount. Her organic tail weapon belongs to the 6000 tricount right? What about the shoulder armour and the PDA thing on her arm? If i would make these things detachable can i count it to the detachable gear tri count?

Davision3d --> if her tail is part of her, you loose the bonus 1000 polygons. Gear is for bags and bullets or maybe even ammo clips, it's not for armor.

my guy has a retractable blade which is always attached to his body (given that its parts are made of his bones). This comes from the 6k right? he never does (well he actually can't) take it off, so i don't think it would go into the 'detachable gear' category. right?

Yup, you are right:thumb: Take it out of his 6000.

Hey Fred, another question on this, as I am still iffy on the parts that I am thinking about would fall into the 1000 or the 6000 tri limit. My character has ankle and a jaw blade that are held onto the head and feet with ropes. I was planning on using this for the weapong, as they are not physically a part of my creature. I hope that this is ok, as there is no way that I want to go back into my low body mesh, and pull the nessesary polys to create those:)

Sounds fine man. If they are his weapons, they sound like they are good to go:thumb:

Ok, so a weapon that slides into place is also okay for the 1000... Mine has a sword that sort of breaks off from her arm to form into a blade...
