Hey, these are looking really good! Very nice start. hmm, this is a tough one. There are many individual pieces that look good, but they probably need to be combined with other pics to stand out. For example, I like the hair and low hand band with a matarial backing in the bottom right one in the second image. Then, I like the simple costume in the bottom left one in the second image. For his hand glove, I like the right image in the first image and for shoes, I like the simple shoes in the bottom left figure in the second image.
You did a lot of sketches and this is great, but I still feel like his costume can be explored a little more. Right now, they seem to be a little to busy and some have tiny details that hurt its overall balance. Perhaps you can take one of your favorite poses and use this one to make 1 or two new costumes on it.
Regardless, very nice start here man. You did an excellent job at bringing your ideas to life. Can't wait to see more:)

Time is running out!! Oh nos @o@, well here are some updated versions, not liking the one with the long coat, and I like different things from 1 & 3 so the 2nd image is a compilation of some of the different elements from concept 1 & 3. I just wanted to color something really.

Something to consider it the dramatic contrast between thin and thick...you did this with the collar but the arms with the gaps seems to lose something and not tie in to the collar...large cuffs at the bottom of the color a la Final Fantasy might be a nice touch...also perhaps a touch of a warm color in the coloring for accent and to contrast the cool green going on...it looks really good but just seems a little unfinished to me. 2 cents.

I like how the design goes. Those gaps on his sleeves helps for Shino to easily release his mini friends faster. I aint good with colours so I wont comment on that. :P
Btw, he seems more girlish. Maybe because of his lip. Is it intentional?

It wasn't really intentional, I think maybe because there is no definition to his face right now it's just got that soft look. I'm going for boyish, not girly :)

this colored version looks really good! Looks like you have done a lot of coloring before because the blends between colors are really nice.
For making him a boy, maybe some thicker eyebrows? Aside from the pink mouth, the pencil thin eyebrows might also be a contributing factor to his girlish look.
Can't wait to see more!

Still tweeking out the overall piece, but figured it couldn't hurt to play around with some bugs....

Looking very nice.
Still seams kind of effeminate. The hole face and even the stance make me think girl not guy. It is also kind of noticeable that the cloth texture that you used for the shirt is constant. Is should change some as it curves around the body.
I do like the way you are going with this, keep up the good work.

I think the face is ok now. The thicker eyebrows helped. But now, those bugs look terrible;) It's the placement that doesn't look too hot. It would be much cooler if you came up with a pattern that is similar to what's going on with his raised hand. That little bit looks really good. Also, maybe if you kept the bugs on his upper body could be better. If you put it all over his body and only on his back, it looks like your character is being propelled/pushed forward. Also, I agree with the texture pattern overlay, it's much too constant on his shirt.
But, everything is really coming along well. I think this is going to be a really good entry when finished.

I think teh face is okay, I mean after all he is just a kid... so not to much manly face stuff, that's well..okay. we all know it's shino and we kan see it through many other things. I like it! the only thing I dislike (and not even that much) is the sleeves. The whole thing about shino is that he hides the bugs this makes them so very visible. but good luck man.

Intresting peice. If I were in your place I would tone down the cloth overlay or just remove it in general. Add another button or 2 on his coat. Add more depth to it, atm it looks kinda flat and unintresting. But I love the style in this one. Keep working on the bugs because atm there kinda taking over your hard work. Keep at it, ill check up in this thread later.

Looking better, personaly I like the version without the texture. Keep it up.
I think the only problem with the texture is that it is flat and doesnt seem to follow the shape of the clothes, so it looks a little flatter with the texture. the one without the texture seems brighter and the light and shadows more balanced. very good stuff.
