Theme:
G.I.Joe VS Street Fighter

Brief:
If you don't know one, then you probably know or heard of the other! For the next week and a half, in our third Concept mini challenge on gameartisans.org, it's time for you to bring a character from one of these two popular franchises, to life! For Concept Art entries, we are looking for Standard sized street fighting sketches or concepts. You may choose any character. As long as your creation resembles your character choice in some small way, everything else is fine! Backgrounds are optional. Coloring is optional. Finalizing is optional. A Clean Presentation is optional. This challenge is here for those desiring to practice their art and receive friendly advice from fellow artisans. So as mentioned in mini comp #2, keep it easy, keep it quick, and keep it real. Good Luck!:thumb:

Dario - Nice sketch man. I used to love dhalsim. He is instantly recognizable in your sketch.

Scjohnson - Looking really good there. It's kind of a strange pose though. Looks like she is about to be body searched by a cop or something:) Looking forward to an update.

Slow day at work today so I thought I'd lay down some graphite to the form of Destro.

I know the far foot is pointed in the wrong direction, I'll be fixing that before it goes to color

Wow, very nice sketch Marco! He looks awesome! The new pieced up metal face looks great. I really can't wait to see color on this one. This sketch got me all excited now:D

Well good news Antimagic, the wait is over :D I kinda wanted this to resemble the colorfull box art I remembered as a kid that made me want to buy all those toys. The end result is a more saturated than I'm used to, but I think it still does what I wanted it to.

...oh, and I might still go back and fix that foot :o

thanks for the nice comments :)
funny we had the same idea about pushing the colors that far, marco.
i really like your concept! the face looks metallic solid but still flexible enough to make smooth expressions.

i painted over my sketch with acrylics, reworked it a bit with color pencils and finally pushed the colors in painter. i dont really know what to think about this little experiment, but i think it was worth the try. :)

I think it worked out fine. Nice work with dhalsim:) The only thing missing is something to suggest motion. Maybe some runny colors or something so that we get a feeling that the guy being kicked it being pushed backwards. I think that's all that's missing.

Thanks for the comments. Though, now that I've stepped back a bit I just realized how much I accidentaly ripped off the Mad Max poster... doh! :brick:

Dario, I can't help but feel that some of the energy that made that sketch so great was somehow lost in the translation. Much of this seems to be attributed to Wild Bill's less animated expression. If you could somehow recapture the spontaneity of your original linework, then I would definitely call your experimant a success.

It is pretty funny to see some of the similarities in our color choices :) I guess great minds DO think alike!

Dario, nice work man, but I have to agree with sorenson, I am not really feeling like the guy is being kicked back. Maybe in photoshop, you can put your old line work on top of your current colored version and make it a multiply layer just to see how it looks with your lines back in. Could be cool.

Marco, I am positive anyone can find a resemblance of anything if they look hard enough. Yeah, it does look a little similar, but no big deal. However, I wish your guns were as big as max's hehe HIs looks really nasty:)

Hey all,

Great work from everyone! Figure I needed break from the Naruto challenge so here's my contribution to this challenge.

Its basically Ryu with Ken looking on in the background. Can't say I'll have enough time to get back to this piece this weekend so consider it a final...for now.

Good luck to everyone!

Cool work there Damagecontrol. You go the proportions and angles in just right. It's a shame you can't work a little more on it now that dario and marco set the bar so high, but it's understandable that naruto is taking all your time hehe.

Here's mine. I did this rough sketch this morning since other plans got cancelled(:( ) I will try to color her a bit.. but no promises:D

Baroness from G.I.Joe:)

Doh! Scjohnson5551, we have exactly the same pose:eek: I didn't know you were making a pose like this. If I knew, I would have changed mine to the side a bit. Oh well:flag:

Squip --> Nice sketch there man. For a quicky, he was really starting to look great. Yeah, it's a shame you missed this one, but there will be more in the future. Looking forward to seeing your work and hey, I see you are a new poster, welcome to GameArtisans:)
