This thread just for fun and relax. I think it's right time i create this thread. Before the war ended, and it's almost half way from the end. :D

I just wanna ask everyone that join Dominance War last year or this year, to share or give any opinion about Dominance War.

What's the reason that make you decide to join Dominance War?
1. To improve/practice your skill?
2. To get more fame/popularity?
3. To get new job/contract?
4. To get the prizes?
5. To get more friends?
6. etc

From my personal question, is that true if we do our best in Dominance War, we can get a new or better job?
Beside improving my skill, that also my reason why i wanna join Dominance War.
I really like to hear from any Dominance War's participant that get new job/contract after join in the Dominance War 3 (last year). :)

Thx before guys.

In my case, only to practice skill ^^

I just draw and 3D model for personal pleasure, so sometimes I find it hard to actually complete anything. Entering the competition I force myself to reach the end.

Also, I've learned a lot from the great artists here so I thought it would be a nice idea to join and participate more in the forums ( proud ex lurker ^^).

I entered the top choice in the poll, but honestly, for me, it's for all of those reasons (except to get a new job. Got one of those already.) I don't know if it's realistic to expect some company to sweep in and offer you a new job just from entering or even winning DW - I certainly didn't see any job offers (even freelance ones) pick up all that much after DW3 - but if you do a really good piece then you have something good for your portfolio, and that's what really gets you the jobs... I.e. solid work in your portfolio.

For the ladies! Jk jk...I join 3d comps for practice...I have a hard time finishing projects that I start for my self. Helps me finish them if it's part of a contest. I join DW cuz I love the WAR part of it...I'm a really competitive person..I like forums vs. forums. Although later I wish we have something more like the Olympics, where you represent the nation you're from.

I just put etc. because it's pretty much all those reasons.

I'm always down for practicing my craft, especially in these days and ages where a TON of people are learning this stuff every day, I feel I need to stay on top of my game.

I am hopeful someone may see my work and refer me or an employer may catch a glimpse of it and give me a chance to get my foot in the door, but that's the least of my worries, because I will let my portfolio do the talking when it's that time.

I would like to be a well known member of this forum in time, and that's another reason I put in work.

I'm also a very big procrastinator. It takes deadlines like these to get my @ss in gear, and I'm glad they're there, as it gives more importance to my work.

And who wouldn't love a Cintiq that doesn't have one already?! I mean C'MON!?

lol

I love this stuff.

I guess it would be all of the above.

For the most part, it is to create a great piece of art for my portfolio, but all the other reasons are still there as well

for me it would be for practicing and improving my skills, it hard to get crits outside a school environment, and work is less creative and more of a pipeline, so comp like this really helps motive myself to do more work at home and create things :D

Hm....so far the result "improve/practice skill" is the no 1 reason.
Thx for the poling guys.
And for walrus. You're right. We can't only using this DomWar to say our skill is good. But, according to our recent artwork. :)

I chose 1, because that is what I get from DW the most, but All of the reasons play into it. However, when it comes down to it, I think it is so cool to present so many artists from different walks with the same project, and see how many different solutions come of it. The process is fascinating to me and I love watching how other people work. People also have a way of looking at my work with new eyes, and I enjoy the insight.

So yeah, thats the long and short of it.

oh and the chicks...........
