Hello there,
I started working on a female model a few months back for my portfolio and I was just wondering if I could have some critique and advice on her.
Currently shes around the 4000 tri mark (with 1 texture at 1024*1024). The texture is by no means finalised (personally its the part im worst at) and Im working on a 2048*2048 and downsizing).
I was wondering on what improvements I could implement.
Thanks.

Welcome to the boards NiGHTS2o06, looking at your character I can see you're still trying to figure out the world of 3d art and that's great! Here are a couple of suggestions before moving on. First I'd grab some good anatomy references and reference books in general, yeah I know that must sound painfully obvious but the basics always come into play! I'm not sure if your modeling from just you're imagination, or looking at photo's while working but I would suggest scanning in some photo's and modeling over that. This will develop your observation skills and give you a better sense of form, before you know it you can take off the training wheels and start modeling from the top of your head, though having good reference around is always a plus!
Here's some solid links of human references:

Here's a character-modeling sheet done by Hawk Prey to help get you on your way:

The reason I stress looking at references is because the main problem with your model is her proportions, the modeling side of things can be fixed fairly easily with some time and effort and is a skill that can be developed the more you play with your program. I'm going to hold off on the texturing crit for now as it's a whole different work flow and skill set, if I were you I'd just concentrate on improving your modeling ability. With some more practice your going to be well on your way to producing fantastic work and I can't wait to see what you tackle next, good luck and keep us updated on your progress.:thumb:
