Wel...I'm just wondering if there's a plugin or tool that is able to convert a black and white 2d bitmap image into 3d geometry - I once did that AGES ago in another 3d application called Strata 3d which I don't have anymore.

Worked really nice with logo's I had done in Adobe Illustrator and wanted to do a 3d animation with...

import the illustrator file directly into max and loft the splines.

So - to those who wonder and can use this for anything:
I made my desired pattern in vector graphic curves in Adobe Illustrator and then exported it as a .DXF-format - then imported it into 3dsMax and converted it to an Editable Poly - then added a Shell and collapse - voila :thumb:

Pattern is now the 3d I need

If your handy with Illustrator making complex vector patterns this is a good way to go nuts 2d-wise and then worry getting it into 3d :)

But I'm sure most already knew that - I just did'nt... :D
