Emm has entered the competition!
So... this is what i've got so far.

I think of Kisame as some kind of freak of nature... Trying to emphasize his "fishness" in this one. It's just a starting point really - what came to my mind first. I'll use it as a "sign post" for further sketches.
Something a little bit different.. closer to the original, I think.

Damn, now I know why the sword had bandages around it. Its hiding a Hammerhead Shark!
No doubt y have achieve the fishness to it. Man I would like to see more developement with that crazy sword.
Kisame looks tough. No crits. Maybe a suggestion, the patterns on his shirt remind me of those tattoos of Yakuzas. How bout a Yakuza tattoo since Kisame is without his trenchcoat?
Aite, looking forward for more. ^^

The second one is way better then first, but I think his legs are too exaggerated. Looks like he is jumping up at us. REally nice concept though. I love your shading technique.

I think you got some good clarity on a few elements, I don't know the character, so you could be on the mark, but the proportion and position of the sword seems somewhat awkward in both...
Thanks for the comments!
I guess i'm gonna pursuit the hammerhead sword idea, and get some of the stuff from the second pic in the next kisame. And I really like the idea of a tattoo on him.
It's probably easier to develop them seperatly?! (Or stop trying, to get overly "creative" with the pose ;) )
after some sketching. Why not give him a hammer instead of the sword?!
http://picturetrees.com/zeug/kisame05.jpg
Should concentrate on the guy himself more I guess...

So is that an actual Hammerhead on top of the sword? or is it a metal like hammer??? I don't know? I like the style you go going the drawing, but the fish seems somewhat hacked in to me...

I actually like #1 quite a bit. It's odd as all hell, but it's no more or less bizarre than Final Fantasy 8's gunsword concept. The real trick is in balancing the textures. What's metal? What's organic? The whole thing could fall apart on that level. Careful implementation would be key to making this thing work.
iworkat. The sharkhead should be metal. I thought it would be cool if kisame could "unleash" him from of the sword. (Like the energy sharks he used in that one episode..) Also was thinking the blades of the sword could be bone - with teeth sticking out of it instead of metal spikes/shards.
Absolutely right on that one cookepuss. Already have a compete failure on my hd (Which I'm not going to show ;) ) Gonna paint a new one tonight ( or getting unreasonably drunk, not decided yet)
cheated a bit by mirroring parts, and changed the handle a bit...

What do you guys think?

! I think it's freaking badass! the fleshy blade could use a slight color shift to really make this thing rock!
Nice job mate.

Wow, that sword is awesome!
I agree with ThatDon on the color shift. Maybe something bluetoned, since its part of a shark?
Keep up the great dude!
Tanks for the input guys!
I gonna try tinting the whole thing. Actually i was thinking about red - but I guess the rest of the costume should be deciding...
I hope these count as thumbnails:

Also after all the style mixing, I'm gonna try to stay with this, more realistic, style for the required stuff. 4 to go...
Heres the third one. I just had to do a "tank" version with samurai armor. Doesn't work too well, what do you think?
http://picturetrees.com/zeug/kisame08.jpg
3 to go
I really like the "tank" one but to be honest I dont really know this character
hey, thanks Ged!
here is another one.. http://picturetrees.com/zeug/kisame09_1.jpg (edit: some minor changes)
I don't think I'm able to finish my entry.. oh well. Was fun while it lasted?! ;)

Man, you're having sweet progress on him. There's still 1 week left if you can squeeze something out but you have your reasons yeah. :)
Nonetheless I will still give my 2 cents. Your 1st , 3rd (cone shells shoulder pad) and your last fits Kisame well. Kisame in the manga is like a crazy strong brute. Immovable and looks like's he's hungry for blood.
The hammerhead sword looks badass though I feel the blade should have a general colour instead of a contrast of blue and white.
I'm still not sure how much time i can spend, but as long as I can... And since we got one more week, this should be my "final" thumbs.

Personally I like 1 & 6 best. I also like the jaw-thing from 3 - could be put on 1 I guess... What do you guys think. Which one is worth doing the model sheets and illustration?

I mirror your thoughts, I also like 1 & 6 best. On 1, I really like his open sweater with inlaid shells. on six, I really like his pants with his overlapping sweater. However, I am not to excited about the poses. For your final, it would be cool if you came up with a pose that has both his feet planted and he is balanced but still in an action pose. Just a thought.
Nice work. Hope you will be able to finish.
