~ For 2 years i have not used any anti-virus software or anti-spyware programs on my computer. In fact, it has virtually no protection whatsoever not even a firewall.
It runs flawlessly.
My friends that don't use them either also don't have any problems. Whereas my friends who get regularly Anti-Virus/Spyware updates have computers that have bugs all over the place. The same was also true with my old computer that had Norton.
Anyone else experience this same thing?

I have had massivly various experiences, I have now found my ideal solution, A free AV and spybot scanner that are never turned on, and a router with a strong firewall, then if my Pc starts running funny I crack open the AV and bot scan and find the issue if its virus related if not I try and work it out, if I cant I reformat my OS harddrive

The computers at my school are known for infecting external drives with a virus called Kavo, thats pretty much the only thing that I use virus protection against. I never get viruses on my own...

My father programs for IBM(does it matter?) and has theorized that companies such as Norton, etc. are responsible for majority of viruses. They'd have no job otherwise.
Also in same boat of no protection stuff and computer runs like a champ, and it's from '94 no less.
