Looks interesting. Mostly just clever lighting, camera, & texture work though. The graphics are only modestly impressive, especially when you add in the replay factor. Everything looks better in replay mode.

I guess I've become harder to impress by this stuff over the years. We've moved a long way from Pole Position that the shift from GT to PGR isn't as big of a emotional leap.

When Max Payne was first sampling real world textures & photo referencing it was a big deal. Nowadays, everybody does it. Clever lighting isn't so new. Halo 3 even uses, afaik, 2 layers to sim HDRI. PG4's lighting is nice, but not a qualitative leap over what's being done elsewhere. The camera work... nothing new at all. Seen that stuff in a bazillion other racers.

Besides, if I wanted reality, I wouldn't be talking about a game. :)

Although I'm not particularly impressed, it is pretty. How does it play though? I'll take an ugly looking GFX engine with great racing controls over one that looks pretty and handles like a semi truck. Citing PG1-PG3 doesn't tell me anything either, as we've known many great games to "drop the ball" at least once in their franchise's lifespan.

I'm still interested in playing it though.

(Guess its my Wii mindset kicking in, but visuals don't get me off much in thisgen consoles.)
