yeah, I heard them talking about a "possible mechwarrior" on the ign command prompt podcast yesterday. They were talking about the old mechwarrior so much it was pretty much a give away. I'm interested in playing an updated mechwarrior. I just hope they know what they're doing.

from what I have read it seems they have alot of passionate people working on it, in the right hands it could be pretty cool, don’t know how much of the trailer is in game/existing but if they get half of that feel in there it will already exceeded expectations if you ask me.

Hopefully this game takes more of a cue from the original series instead of the console spin-offs, while fun really lacked completely in the depth department.

yeah, I hope it stays simish, with arcade mode for those who dont want to manage layouts, but half of the fun was loading out your mechs to fit the situation you would find yourself in.

I'd hope so... the other ones were done pre-graphic accelerators

Never played any of previous MW's (which is almost a crime, yeah).
Still very happy that new one is in development because there's no such thing as 'too many combat mechas to stare at'

the game looks pretty impressive, but looks really boring. the guy just stood there and the other equally slow guy just stood there and fired back and forth and they had no way to escape except very very slowly. yeah, bring a book.

This does look good. I wonder if they will shut down the Crysis mod of MechWarrior that some guys have been working on.

alot of games are built around 1 main mechanic, shooters like killzone and cod4 are, get a guy in your sights and fire. mechwarrior easily has that aspect but allows you to load out your mech with a ton of options. including jump jets, melee weapons, what armor and so forth. its really robust, your enemies might require you to be as intelligently loaded and "heavy" as possible, others need you to be modest and well rounded. In one mission of mw2 you needed to be light and fast enough to escape the blast of a nuke, but strong enough to make it to that point by surviving mutiple battles. I have heard that alot of mech, flight, story adventures, and other sims have gone by the wayside cause of what the internet brought in the late 90s- early 2000. I would like to see these genres receive the love they deserve, so that old and new generations enjoy them, if that means mods, by all means!
