The Armored Corpse are the Machines bread and butter, creating harmony with the natural world by dealing mass destruction to anyone opposition. By land or by air, the fully automatic photon sub-machine gun with a chargeable blast can destroy buildings and foes with little effort. And even though their armor is powerful, made from a special process involving layered carbon nanotubes, they also carry a shield of the same material capable of withstanding a 200 lbs. bomb. Their jets also give them flight for long periods of time or short bursts. Through the use of human parts, carbon layered nanotubes (30x the strength of metal), and radioactive fuel cells, Victory is in site.

Hey there, You kind of posted this in the wrong forum. You should post your work on 3dtotal right here:
http://www.threedy.com/site/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=88
Otherwise, you are off to a good start. You have drawn your ideas on paper so this will give you a nice jump onto your model. Hope you will continue and it's nice to have you in this comp:)

Hey Dave, its Josh is this an expansion on the other drawing that you showed me? The legs look a little skinny for the upper torso. You may want to try and rework them some how. Make them feel like they have the same weight. The wings look pretty interesting. What are they used for?

Sorry about posting it in the wrong forum Fred. Don't do this type of stuff too often since I really do animation. The 3D model is up next though.
Oh, and Josh, yeah I've gotten that feed back on the legs already and they will be wider. As for the wings, flying. I haven't finalized them conceptually since I'm working out the core model right now. They will be built to fold out though. Don't trip, if all goes well it should come out nicely. Thanks for the heads up. I checked out your references by the way(ie. firemoth, Iron Man Ultimate), but for some reason I like the box look. It made sense with the mass production. Let me know where your post is if you have one though. It'd be a trip to check out what you could do conceputally.

Sounds good, I am still thinking about entering but time is short. I may just do something short and sweet. I need it for my portfolio review next quarter before I graduate. I got some ideas in mind. Ill try to get something down today. As for that animation, it is killing me.

Started the main torso and hips this weekend. All modeling is done in Maya through edge extrusions and vertex tweaking. Current poly count~ 1122. Here's a pic.

Dave, we are going to have to get you in this comp in a more official manner:p
You will need to create a thread on 3dtotal here
http://www.threedy.com/site/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=88
Once this is done, I will quickly change your thumbnail's url so that it leads to the proper forum.
That aside, I see you are little new to forum posting. When you show your work, you should only use jpg's or gif's. Nothing else. This will allow viewers to easily see your work:) I opened your tiff file, and I see that you are making progress into your model. This is great but don't be afraid to look at refrence to gather ideas. Right now, I feel you are only using what you know in your head. In order to make a successful character, perhaps if you looked on google.com, press images tab, and enter "robots" in the search field, this will give you a few additional ideas. Don't use one image as your sole source for inspiration. Take your favorite pieces from 5 or more and see if you can add them onto your guy somehow to make you character even better:thumb:
Keep up the good work, and don't forget to create a new thread on 3dtotal:)

Post the new link to the thread on 3d total. I'd like to still critique your stuff over there. From what the last guy said about your work I think it was very correct. It looks more like you have been modeling from your head. Id try to even refer to anatomy books to see how you can contrast the mechanical with the organic to give your model some interesting form. If you are going for the blocky kind of robot look I would refer back to transformers. They were very successful at keeping there robots simple but interesting and entertaining.

This thread has been moved, pending DominanceWar.com's official URL move, to the following link:

Please post any extra tips or info to the link above. Everyone who has given me tips, thanks and I do get the modeling from head comment.
