Hi to all,
hope this is the right section to post this announce
I have wrote a MEL script to run NVTTs directly from Maya.
The script let you:
-compress the selected texture nodes or all the texture nodes in the scene
-after compressio optionally replace the node's file, import as a new node or a new shading group
-let you convert the map to a normal map
-automatic or manual file suffix
-check DDS property
-batch resize
-support for procedural texture nodes
-compression to all the DDS type of NVTTs such DXT3, DXT5, 3DC and more
I wrote this script beacause I had a scene with 55 textures and a manual compression+replace was really annoying.
Plus this script let you batch resize all the textures in scene and get info on existing DDS files without run commands in a terminal.
This script could be very usefull expecially when you work with a lot of CGFX shaders.
Check the README and the script help for further information.
The script can be downloaded here: http://www.aardolino.com/MELscripts.html and can be freely used, modified etc...just let me know
The archive contains the precompiled NVTTs for OSX with install instruction. Windows users can download the tools from NVIDIA website (see the README for the link).
For any comments, suggestion, support...write an email.
Hope this script can be usefull to someone
