Here is the link for people to look at it easier.

Overall, I have to say it is a nice setup. I am not a huge fan of the splash page thing. Nothing wrong with it per say, I just don't really like having to that extra click on any sight.

Otherwise, It is very clean and easy to navigate. It is nice to have the brief link right up top.

Nice work :thumb:

I had a little bit of problem in getting quick access to previous years full list of characters submitted.

Other then that, it's fine.

seems to be an error with the view entry page. Most of the thumbnails lead to nothing. And then there is the issue with the 2d thumbnails leading to different users threads for the 3d.

Adressing the issue with the thumbs Big_toe and we have added the 2008 prizes and entries under the main menu when you sign into the site.

One thing that's bothered me for awhile is that going to 3d comps doesn't have any links for currently active competitions...

and yeah, it seems like there should be a link to past comicon challenges on comiconchallenge.com

Links to the previous comicon challenge is up on the comicon site right below the main menu. For all other competitions held by GA.org in the past, you can find them in the archives section here:

Sorry for being a newb but is there an easier way to update your entry page? I was hoping a big button called "Edit Entry" on the index page. Right now I just go to 'Entry' tab and "Join in" button. But I like the new look of the page so good work on that.

I think it would be nice if all the important information was collected on one page instead of having to click on links to get more and more details.

ALSO:
I'm having a problem... Here at the gameartisan's website.

I wanted to create my thread in the 2D comic con challenge section... but the "new thread" button is missing there...

Did I do something wrong?

~ You don't make a thread that way Razvan. You have to go here (http://www.gameartisans.org/contests/competitions/6/view_entries_2.html) and click "Join Now" at the top. Then upload a thumbnail, and wait for the admins to MAKE a thread for you.

This is how it's usually done but this year's Dominance War was so hectic, that they let everyone just make their own thread.

it is kinda goofy that you need to go to a different website to join a comp that is on this website.

MRico

It's not really part of the website, but here at the GA Homepage...the Comicon image/button directly under "HIGHLIGHTED THREADS" is misspelled...it says COMICCON with two C's...everything else it's just 1...not a big deal, but that's the only thing I've spot related to Comicon that was off.

there is also a missing word in the text box on the main comicon website at the botton left where it talks about the making of DVD.

We are looking for an exceptional artist or two to create a training DVD for their Comicon Entry. DVD should depict how you created your entry, why you chose to create what you did to try a win

the a is missing. That is all.

I would suggest putting a join now button on the front page of the comicon site. The fact that you have to view entries before finding a join link is a bit unintuitive. There should at least be one on the briefing page. It's a bit confusing that you would go to read the brief, get pumped up for the competition then have to fumble through the site to find where to join.

- Fixed the two CC in the comicon title on the forum of GameArtisans' website.

- Fixed the dvd text and added "for a win"

- Will add more Join Now and Edit Entry buttons in a day or two. Have to finish something else up first. We appriciate the suggestions, they will be implemented.

FredH- I sent you an email about the DVD and a private message. I hope you were able to receive them alright, I know you get a lot of messages.

Did you get my messages? (I'm not trying to be pushy, just worrying if they were receive or not.)

Also, with "try for a win" are you trying to say that people who get awards for the comicon contest are the ones who should apply after it's over? Or can anyone ?

FredH: the biggest issue I see with the entry page, is the fact that The Magnetic's name isn't on there. Where is he? Can you fix that please.:D :inocent:

BiG ToE

do it here on GA. The good news is, even though they look like two different sites, the info on GA follows you over there.

So, try your CP here on GA, if that doesn't work, you need a glass of OJ and a freeze pop.

2 small points, both regarding this page http://www.comiconchallenge.com/2009/readbrief.php

"For Questions, Answers or Technical support, please visit here:
http://www.gameartisans.org/forums/showthread.php?t=4049 "

that link leads to 2008's topic, shouldn't that be the current one?

also I spotted some discussion about wether or not robots are allowed, could that please be cleared up in the brief? I know it was mentioned in the Comicon discussion but there's no guarantee everyone will read it there

apart from that everything's looking smooth, looking forward to making this my debute here ;)

I wouldn't mind having for next time, the thumbnails file size requirement upped from just 15kb....it's murder getting it that small and have the thumb so blurry you can hardly see the pic. 25-30kb would be ideal for the entry thumbnails in my opinion.

~ 15kb is more than enough. Just get in the habit of saving in photoshop by going to File > Save for Web Devices. Then you can choose the quality (out of 100) you want the file to be, and it will tell you how much kb it will be.

You can get it even lower than 15 this way, and it should look near identical.

Hmm, when i want to post a quick reply, i cant add a expression.

FredH
07-28-2009, 06:58 AM
amyrobet, you can add an expression if you already know the code for it. It's usually two characters and for special ones, it's special characters together with a word :) If you go to advance post, under the smilies, if you press "more," you will find the smilies along with the code needed to post them. Remember your favorite ones and you should be good to go from now on:thumb:

Oh wait...I just found something...

" A maximum of 10,000 tris (if you include pets or multiple character's, everything must be within 10,000 polies)"

That's from the brief, "Model Guidelines" It shouldn't say "polies" right? multiple characters and everything must be withing 10,000 TRIS?

~ Tris is right man. We always mean 'tris' when we say polies anyway

MRico

I'm confused...so it should say polies? Or be changed to tris?

Wouldn't 10k Polies be like 20k tris, though? It almost sounds like if you add multiple characters or pets you can have 20k tris.

"if you include pets or multiple character's, everything must be withing (within) 10,000 polies" which would equal 20k tris?

polies = tris in the gameart community i have noticed. even though that makes things very confusing i think it is because Nobody ever counts things in polygons anyway so just imagine tris means polies.

Perhaps you moderators can help me, I was rereading the rules, but I don't think there is a mention of having one of game artisans logo or the comic con logo in our work? Is it required or do we just need the comic book cover jpg on our piece?

This would really clear up stuff for me.
