Hey guys, here are two quick sketches of Asuma. I think I'm going to make him an anbu, even though neither the anime nore mange ever mentions him as anything other then a junin. Any feedback or suggestions are extremely welcomed. Thanks guys.

SNAKE!

. . . I mean ASUMA! :D
Good stuff dude, loose and sketchy leaves you some room for creativity in the 3d. Let's see where you take this!

Lol, yeah he does look like Solid Snake as an anbu. But I'm going to give him one of the Anbu mask with an open mouth so he can still smoke. And maybe a pocket for his smokes. As for my sketch, I'd like to say thanks. I always try to draw loose and I've never heard anyone say that to me before. I still personally think it's a bit on the ridged side of things though. If you got any suggestions for drawing looser I'm more then willing to try them out.

OK, heres an update. Mostly I'm going to make sure my model is perfect before I start texturing it and Z-brushing it (I'm still not sure if I'm going to Z-brush it or run a texture through crazybump). It's now at 4352 tris. I still have to model hair, the legside bag, and a holster for a knife. Any feed back is welcomed.

Hmm.. if you are planning on modeling any assets he could loose some verts on his torso. But you might be planning something rather than just a plain surface on his torso.

Ok, I'm at 4970 tris. I optimized a little bit. So I think I'm ready to unwrap now and begin the texturing process.

I think you should make your arms longer and wrist thicker.

yeah. agree with thatdon. the upper need a little longer and bigger. the arm should longer and bigger. the chest also could have a better silhouette from the polyflow. i think i gonna keep my eye on this one... ;)

his chest could use some work, now it looks like he is either pretty fat or he's got boobs :P no offence ...
i like the hair and head and the overall proportions!
keep it up!

Hey guys sorry it's been a little while since my last update. I've reduced the model to 4882 tris. And began texturing. I know most people texture with color from the start but I've seen people in the past working completely in black and white first before working in color. I'd figure I'd give it a try.

ThatDon & Dudidam: Thanks, I fixed the arms up a little.

Japhir: No offence taken man. I appreciate all feed back. Personally I always though of Asuma being on the more pudgy side of things. But yeah his gut was pretty far out there. And I pulled back the chest a little so it doesn't look soo much like boobs.

Another update. I kind of like working in 100% tone first before switching to color. The elbows look more like elbow pads so I think going to make them elbow pads instead of regular elbows. I know it's late in the game but still any feedback is welcome.

Ok textures almost done, just have to color it and create all the maps from it.

I would consider making his upper body larger and more manly. Right now the chest area and arms are slightly boyish in shape and size compared to his legs. Otherwise it looks good and I am looking forward to see it colored.

Thanks Tef, yeah I'll try see what I can do about the arms end chest. I don't want to make it too big and through my uvws out of wack.

Here's the first color overlay.
