ThatDon vs. Gavin ROUND 2: Batman Universe
Hey guys! You may have remembered our first unsuccessful go at this but we are back and ready for business. The basic idea is that myself and Gavin will create separate characters with the same theme. Fresh of both of us missing the Comicon Challenge we will be doing the Batman Universe in spirit of the Comicon Challenge for our friendly competition/ simultaneous WIP. Not necessarily looking for a "winner", no strict deadlines...just a side project to do for fun while taking a break from other projects. So, the topic we decided on is "Batman Universe." Basically taking any character in the Batman world and creating him in full 3D. I decided to go with the Bat himself, while Gav is going to roll with Scarecrow. Let us know what you guys think! Expect regular updates and tons of awesome from the always sure to please Gavin. CHEERS!

I have a feeling... that if judging were taking place... that you would take either 1st... or maybe 2nd place... just a feeling.

Awesome. Thanks for making the thread, Don. Going to get rolling on Scarecrow soon, probably early this week. I'd like to lean more towards the "delusional" one rather than "just" a guy in a scarecrow out fit. I'll post some ref up for what I'm thinking real soon.

I think after playing through Batman:Arkum Asylum 3 times now, I'm in the mood for a bat-universe model too

Here's my ref sheet.
 Thinking of going more demonic with him...face more like the 2nd from the left, top left. Sort of like Leatherface from TCM, showing some real human underneath the mask. Mostly following the costume of the 2 on the left, the one with the cape rather than basic brown ones on the right. Will be playing with his proportions a bit, more spindly...Thought about having maggots coming out of an eye and mouth...maybe through some rips in his body, as well as giving him some claws (more or less like on the right but longer and sharper, not just black fingernails.) For weapon, I'm thinking the spraypaint can full of toxins...Will get started on the base here soon, most likely start with just the bust since I've got alot of time..would like to feel out the character  Cheers, Gav

I'd be shocked if this thread lasted more than a few weeks until it dissolved due to neglected
 . Nevertheless I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for some awesome art and perhaps a few "completed models".

this should be interesting to watch. mighta been kool if you guys picked a dif topic due to the fact that a huge comic challenge just ended, like Dancing Space Potatoes, but what do i know. keeping my eye on u guys. now lets see some kick ass art

i,m going to keep my eye on this duel,looking forward for your updates,one question though are you gonna do low poly game rez character with all the textures and stuff or is it going to be just high rez z brush slulpt,with some polypaint?
 btw ,godd start on your batman
