Digital Sculpting Mini: Major Badass Busts

Theme: Major Badass Busts

Are you like me in need of a break from Modern Warefare 2 but don't wanna lose that fighting spirit? Then Ohh Boy do I have the solution for you. Lets get to work on some Badass Army Dudes or Dudets

The goal of this mini is to create a bust (head and shoulders) of a Badass Army Personnel, He or She can be of any Rank and of any Country. While you are only required to create the head and shoulders of the character, you may create a full body sculpt as well.

The Details:

-For this mini you may create your own base mesh in 3d or in Zspheres, etc.

-You are NOT restricted to only using sculpting tools (you can use 3d max/maya's tools if need be for pieces--just keep it high res).

-Base, background are optional

It's strongly strongly STRONGLY encouraged that you post progress images as replies this thread. We're not forcing everyone to yet, but half of the point of these minis are to help build up the community. If you're posting last minute without at least saying hello, then you're missing all the fun! Stop lurking!

Please do not make a new thread for your entry. Keep all w.i.p shots in this specific thread.

Final Submission:

Submit one image, 1000x1000 pixels or less. This image should include your final product, and any preliminary work (sketches) you wish to show (optional).

You can submit your finals here:
http://www.gameartisans.org/contests...sculpting.html

Prizes:
1st place:
- 1 new forum and gallery award icon for mini challenges
- 1 point towards raising your overall game, elite, and/or master rating
on gameartisans

2nd place:
- 1 new forum and gallery award icon for mini challenges
- 1/2 point towards raising your overall game, elite, and/or master
rating on gameartisans

3rd place:
- 1 new forum and gallery award icon for mini challenges
- .25 points towards raising your overall game, elite, and/or master rating on gameartisans

Public Voting:
All Winners are chosen through a public voting system. Only GA.org
members may vote.

Soft Deadline: Voting starts Monday Nov 30th, 2009, around 11:59pm! Dethecus Server Time(PST).

Go for it, troops

Okay, I was planning on making a couple bad ass military guy heads for my current contract. This ties in perfectly. For a second I was worried I would be missing out on two awesome mini-comps!

Very nice. I'm in!

Only question, just to be 100%, when you say "from any country and any rank", that includes imaginary ones too right? As long as you get like a military "vibe" from it

Does the army have to be a contempery one or can we do some one historic say from WW2 or nepoleonic times, or even delve into fantasy/sci-fi.
also does it have to be army or can it be navy and airforce aswell.

Interesting concept,
Just a quick question. Are these war or army generals should be only based ONLY on reallife personalities or do we have the liberty to create our own ones, or from a bad-ass movie character.
eg---- [Lurtz, Captain of the Uruk Scouts (LOTR)]

So sorry to ask another question, but do these guys have to be human? Or can I do some kind of alien military commander or whatnot?

I think I'm going with some sort of Cyber Grunt hyped out of his mind on combat drugs. This should be fun.
