tinkering. I'm not sure WHICH element I'm going with...either ice or rock/earth. Plans include to layer the rocky/icy material over the armor, and use colors to emphasis the elemental feel to him all around. Weapon is still not-fleshed out at all. Class is warrior

Lol honestly, Joe, do you really think you have that much of an impact
![]() Hehe I am fine, besides I have something to say to you... things that you might encounter later, that I encountered so far, which stumbled my enthusiasm. If not then your atuned with your mind - I know I aint:P Anyway, I'll list two things that I found out to be more important than first thought and why: 1. Background Story (sooooo improtant). Why? After thinking a story up for a character I had more vision and an accurate design approach (all in the mind of course – where’s the proof!). It also stopped me from feeling overwhelmed by so many other designs when browsing, feeling I had to change things on mine. Best thing yet about a background story, besides giving you an easy start, it brings your character more to reality, in your imagination. Which is so important when creating something out of nothing (especially in a busy lifestyle, starting from somewhere you left off the other day, is difficult without a good vivid start point) 2. Be free in your designs! Draw, scribble, so no one can understand them, draw for your self, draw fast and generate ideas. It helps soooo much! (except your drawing hand) Anyway, Joe, I might be wrong, but I also have psychology abilities - I can turn tragedy into glory lol |

Neh I for one think "ah whatever goes with the flow." (yeah I contradict myself :P) This is meant to be fun! Well, a little stressed from the awesome talents and huge competitions, but its easy to forget about having fun
![]() It's something like playing DnD. Making a unique character is awesome of course, but don forget to have fun while plundering the many dungeons. I think that's what FredH himself would agree ![]() Real nice shield there Blankslatejoe ![]() |

Joe. lovin the rufs so far man!! this guy is going to look very cultured and regal. a feel i havent seen in any of the other entries!! the sword is a cool design as well. but i think you should push the size as its being dwarfed by the massive shield. maybe not thick but longer. cool face gaurd man. i wanna see the rest

Thanks for the comments everyone!
So I finally got some more time with this guy. Here's the concept. I've had a pretty clear idea of what I want to tackle with this project from the get go, so there arent many roughs, and the story has been coming into place in my mind as I've drawn him out. Spent a couple hours finishing up this sketch--still needs a ton of work, but its enough for me to begin roughing 3d from. story so far: in bullet points: -the sword/shield combo is the item, im not sure which half, or if its a combo of both -through the years, as the hero, a former gladiator, has used the swords/shield, it's caused him to grow more powerful (stronger, faster, more 'elemental-magic', etc) -however, every time he uses the artifact, it consumes him a little more--turning him cold, souless -all those crystalbits are designed to be either rock or ice. I'd like to go ice, and that is how im going to concept him, but rock is my fallback if I can't get it to look convincing without fancier shaders. I've always had trouble with ice. This should be a challenge for me! to come: roughing out the 3d. further designs on the armor, a closeup of the face, and some reworking of the shield. Looks real good man. I really like the idea of the sword being embedded in the shield.
Maybe I missed it, but what's the magic type here? From what the sketch looks like, it seems like you're going for ice? It would be cool if embedded in the shield is only a thin piece of metal shaped like a sword, but then when he pulls it out, it gains mass and shapes into an ice sword.

yup, ice. I've been tinkering between ice or earth. I actually kind of like the idea of him being able to break the sword off the shield, like its an icicle, and there'd be a little ice-splinter particle that might play to emphasis bits of ice breaking off all around.

Wow that's some serious good quality drawing there. The attitude coming through from the guy is great, looking to see it carried across in the 3D

I would love to see this guy in all ice. I'm yet to see an ice character in a video-game that really impressed me. They were all kinda meh. I saw some really nice fire ones. Like that boss from Devil May Cry 4 not long ago. But no ice yet...
