Nice poses! like all the dynamic action line in them ! I like from the 1sth sketch page the far right corner (all are great) only this one has the personality of jump of him..

and bottom skecth page;

I'll say the middle one , also jumping add a nice "momentum" to the situation and has potential to take a good history around him...

Looking forward for your updates! Amazing approach and good choice !

Axelalonso, thnx. My theory is that he's a pretty agile guy so instead of doing the thumbs ala fashion design (static or relaxed poses) I would start designing the costume to best fit and allow mobility when he's flying around. That being said, I'm not so sure I'm keeping the trenchcoat. We'll see. It just doesn't seem practical for a pretty active dude.

Aftermath, I'll be painting in Photoshop. I've only got a couple weeks and if I was going to layer-up my Prismacolors the way I want, I would need to neglect too much sleep.

Thanks for the comments. Keep 'em coming. Prolly an update on the first three poses soon.

Finished thumbs, not cleaned up
Here are the thumbs. Still cleaning. What do you guys think? Trenchcoat? No trenchcoat? I'm leaning more towards "NO" because I think it would get in the way and trip him up. But it is iconic.

This image was my biggest inspiration. I always thought Gambit's outfit was much cooler without the coat. I dunno. We'll see how it goes over.

And I was also a big fan of AoA Gambit and the Xternals. A little more relaxed. So I'm trying to get something somewhere in the middle.

I love the drawings, the style is great! I also like the bandanna around his head and other alterations to his costume that make this design your own. Even with your alterations he still looks like gambit, so good work.

Looking at your stuff makes me want to draw more... I mostly do digital paintings these days.

Anyways, good luck and keep up the good work!

Great drawings! I'd say don't go with the trench coat. I really like that bandanna around his neck. Lets see some more!

Thanks for the comments. Hopefully I'll get the turnaround roughs up over the weekend. Costume is decided upon and I'm working on the turnaround finals.

I am really digging your reinterpretations of Gambit. You managed to make him easily recognizable as the character he is. Nice work. So, no trench coat? How about putting it behind him then as if he took it off? I guess I am just a fan of his trademark coat

Thanks for the kind words, FredH. I really am leaning toward the no coat look. But I may throw in an image of him with it on as well. Just to make sure leaving it off doesn't hurt my chances in the end.

I like him also with out the trench coat...adds more agility like you said, and in the times when Magneto was on charge of the X-Man he didn't have it ...did he? ooh well ..what I do remember it;s that he looked really kuhl! ..Also as for your model sheet, looks awesome the body type and style, although I will suggest you ; to add a best shape to his hair do..so its more easy to relate from far ...kinda like the anime guys!

The refined version has a more readable silhouette for the hair if that's what you're talking about. Never heard it referred to as a "best shape," but I suppose that's accurate.

I hope it doesn't come out looking like anime as I can't think of anything I'd want to be identified with less Anyway, thanks for the comments once again.
