Initial concept I chose to work from.

First pass quick paintover. Going to add more stuff for sure! Am prolly going to go for a retro look. Maybe 50's 60's. Still looking at adding boats. All wip. Developing the focal point more once I get more of a handle on how large the scene is going to run...

Quick block in of the shapes. Just getting a feel for how large the scene will be. Idea is still evolving...

Idea evolving. Fast paintover of the block-in. Winter scene. Going for a more christmas feel. Added more of a focal point with the ice sculpture in the center of the water which is now frozen over. Could be a elven recieving dock for santa's workshop. May go for more Jack Frost's northern retreat. Will work out the kinks soon but like this direction better. Seems happier or more on the side of good anyway...

Marisa: Thanks! Its all about revisions I guess hehe.

Couple more images. Still developing the idea. Trying out some slightly different paths. Feel like I need to change the basic architecture but I think Im getting there. Starting to feel filled out tho. Just plugging away. Dont want to get detailed til I know what Im doing a bit more.

Newer blockin. Sleds instead of boats...

Concept: Jack Frost ice sculpture. Want a stylized look. More possibilites with this than the snowman. Need to develop base. That may set the tone for the rest of town.

I definitely agree with the others, that going with a winter scene is a great idea. I really like the jack frost concept. Looks like you are off to a great start. Looking forward to seeing this one textured.

Thanks for the encouragement guys! I keep plugging away.

Ive made some changes to the idea since I last posted and I suspect there are 1 or 2 more to come. I think its starting to gel some at least and thats good for progress hehe.

Some structural concepts to get my mind around what the town will look like overall. Not trying to make perfect concept drawings but just figuring out the look and construction. I tend to draw over and over on top of my original scribbles.

Kind of a large change since I last posted was the statue in the center. I was a bit worried about how a statue this dominant in the scene would play out so I switched it up to a windmill.

Got this far before I made the change.

New windmill. There's still a few areas I need to resolve before I can start texturing but Ive got a jumpstart on the model. Lots of details to come!

A polar bear statue piece Im going to be adding in.

Got a ton of work to do. I still think my overall scene is pretty big at the moment and that may become a problem. Need to consolidate some areas. Current layout.

Another update. Windmill got a makeover. Changed again to a clock tower. This should be the final variation. Added ornate base. Snow is mocked in. Gonna need to work that into the ground base...

Update to the layout. Still have to finish the medium level detailing on the buildings. Flesh out the backdrop more. Docks going in soon...

Quick concept doodle for a version of the sleds/sleighs.

Your statues and modelling are looking very nice. The composition is coming together nicely too. I'm looking forward to seeing this one finished.

Thx Graf! Your entry is kicking some major $!!!

I still have alot of work but moving ahead with another quick update. Docks going in. Medium details being added. Playing some with composition. I will have some houses a bit higher up but not as detailed as the foreground. Working out the background. Will have more concepts up when I have time to scan them in. I find it faster lately to just draw them in my notebook.
