GDC 2009 San Fran Who is Going?
anyone from GA plan on attending this years convention?

I will be attending, in full job hunting mode and hope to land a job before the weeks over or atleast raise some eyebrows.

If enough people go we should setup a meeting day to have a few cold ones and shoot the crap.

Edit: DominanceWar.com will have a booth in GDC2009 San Francisco from March 23-27th. For more info, visit:

http://www.gameartisans.org/dominanc...ry_gdc_09.html

Aftermath, FredH, ThatDon along with a host of talented artists will be attending. If you are there, be sure to come over and say hi.

No job hunting for me (unless something goes drastically wrong between now and then!) but I've been attending the GDC for years, and plan on being there for the main three days of this one too. (Conveniently, my office is 3 blocks away!) See you all there!

nice will TRI have a booth up? Last year i stayed at the Hotel Tomo in japan town was a pretty good spot. This time i might get a closer spot thou, those of use who are going should for sure setup a day to meet and greet and shoot the shit or even have lunch. I will be there all week, walrus so you always miss the videogameslive concerts? Massive black is also a few blocks away from the Center last year they had an open house. Ah good times i cant wait.

Nope, haven't caught one of the concerts yet. Are they any good? These days I try to make it home to the family every night I can - I suspect, seeing your occupation, that you might understand! I generally just take one night to hang out/catch up with friends/attend noisy GDC parties where you can't hear anyone anyhow.

yea i can understand that walrus, the videogameslive concert is really awesome its old and new game tunes played by an orchestra and bands. I hear you again on the parties i went to the crytek/nvidia party last year and they picked this small bar we were packed like a can of sardines whoever does the party planning for these things needs some work haha.

Best party last year hands down was the Autodesk party.

I'll be going again this year. Should be fun. I had fun watching the motion cap chicks do their thang on the exhibit floor.

Purple Walrus Man: Where is your office?! I'm in SOMA at Unknown Worlds Entertainment. You should check out the postmortems we have once a once at Thirsty Bear, would be good to have another GA.org guy there.

Oooghimjiqxxxx... ah, never mind: Matt - I'm just barely SOMA too, on 2nd between Market and Mission. I haven't made it to a postMortem yet, but I also haven't know about them for that long. I just signed up to be on the mailing list. Can't say I'll make the one on Jan. 27th - that's my son's birthday - but I'll try for one this coming year! (p.s. - love your avatar image!)

I might go to hang out with some friends and shmooze a bit but I dunno, kind of a big financial undertaking to not be job hunting while I am there...

last year was my first time going and it certainly helped a TON. I'd like to go again this year but I'm not sure I'll have the funds.

I'd love to go as GDC is still on my to-do list. But since I have to pay myself, it's probably going to be siggraph 2009 and/or fmx'09 for me this year.
But I'm sooooo going to try to make in 2010...

Someone needs to start a party list.
Some parties last year you had to be on a list to get in. So...this year if we all know what those parties are, we can sign up for them before hand....aka...like the Autodesk party. An Activision party last year was like that too.
So....if anyone knows anything about parties...spill spill spill! :P
