Dominance War IV - 3D - ojko - Brain Case
At the moment I'm trying to get the basic concepts finalised. Initially I was going for a norm invoker, but yesterday I sat down and came up with this guy. A cyborg by the name of Brain Case.

I need to do a bit more concepting though, before I begin the modelling process. Any crits or comments?

Just for you Rem, some expressions.

The evil machine army is creating cybernetic brains from the remains of fallen enemies. Once a brain has been augmented with machine technology, it's used to power a battle suit of unspeakable power and girth! Unfortunately the fusing of machine and organic components tends to bring out extremes of personality, often resulting in somewhat psychotic behaviour.

I'm starting to get a bit more of a feel for the character now, so bring on the modelling. Or possibly a bit more sketching...

Such a great concept. I love the style and feel of the character. Very funny and a little cute, even with the weapons. Reminds me a lot of Earthworm Jim for some reason too.

Can't wait to see more

love the band-aid, i wanna see some sketches of the battle suit though, it's awfully smooth/simple for 10 000 tri's (though, don't go overboard like i am).

Thanks for all the comments guys. I hadn't noticed the character had an Earthworm Jim feel to it. But I can kinda see it now, especially in some of the brain sketches.

As for the simplicity, I want to keep the overall shapes quite simple. If I make them too detailed, I think I'll lose the character in what would probably become visual noise. It's definitely a balancing act, but having an overall simple shape will allow me to spend more polys in certain areas (arms, head, weapons, etc). And allow me to model details as opposed to faking them in the normal map.

Here are a few more sketches, primarily showing the little jump pack on his back and the weapon on his left arm.

Just a quick update. This is kinda the final concept, cleaned up from the original sketch. Now to model him...
