    i would think verts would be a better way to count geometry than tris, although game art competitions usually count by triangles for some reason. you could have 3 triangles, if they are separate, its 9 verts, if they are welded together, into a tetrahedron, with 1 smoothing group, its 4 verts. game engines think of things as verts, as thats how all the information is stored in the model (vertex colors, vertex normals, etc...), so thats what really counts for efficiency.

  4. omnicypher it depends on the style, if you want a realistic style i would model/project it, if its more stylisted i would paint it.

    Thought I could post what I've been doing since Comicon

    I started with the marine, and then I thought, I need to sculpt some female anatomy... and then I exaggerated it a bit.. hehe. A bit. Made a character out of her, gonna make her into a necromancer. And then, I started with a new one. Dammit, should be doing one at the time...

    So that's what I've been doing for the last 1-2 weeks.

    ArminChaudhry Cool, like to see more of it If she's gonna have more of that heavy armor, maybe you should test to make the heels thicker... looks like they'll break any second

    FarAway: Cool character idea, but if you haven't already thought about it, I really recommend you to create seperate subtools for the armor, cloth, etc.

    i like sketching on a single subtool just to get the major forms in proportion, then retopo into separate pieces for the final high poly. heres an arm sketch:

    @omnicypher - That's a cool technique, I just learned something.

    Long time since I've posted anything.

    Started working on a zbrush head from a cube, gonna start doing one a day until I can do one with full detail in like 10-15 minutes. This is 15-20 minutes in so far...

    Subdiv 5

    Subdiv 6

    I should probably look at some references also, to keep my anatomy correct.

    Anyway I decided to speed sculpt my interpretation of a creeper from minecraft. Didn't spend much time on it, and I didn't texture it...may come back to it...

    Faraway - looking forward to your textures. At the moment he doesn't really relate to X-mas as I know it..... but I love your sculpt nonetheless!

  14. hehe, yes I know, not very common. It is based on a figure from Finland, I think, called the christmas goat.
    I had a book as a child where he appeared, and it always scared me out. And this year I use it, to scare my clients

    This was my speedsculpt for the zbrush competition at MIGS. The theme was 'time bandit', and we had 3 hours to sculpt. Unfortunately, I did not place or win anything, but it was still a great experience and great practice.
