Spent all last night getting this moss shader going. Got information from that UDK PDF on the fishie game, then made some changes (color variations and it will animate!!). When I applied it to every surface in the scene, my videocard nearly burst into flames :P . But the effect will give the scene the surface variation I am looking for. Now I'm making the geometry to apply the shader on. It's very dependent on the roundness of the geometry, so I have these little globs I need to place all over. I just hope the effect turns out good, or it will be wasted time...

  2. It's never a waste of time if you learn something. Unless you have a deadline, then... yeah, not so easy to appreciate then.

Almost there I think... I might take the rest of the day off working on it and watch House. What will really end up happening is me watching 24 and making waterfall textures/displacements at the same time (while dreaming about making a 24 based environment).

Did you do that concept? I know she is smiling, but the toon feel isn't the same as the 2D one. Nose, jaw and eyes.

Thanks KewopDecam, on the home stretch I think.

Lamont, great scene. My only critique is it seems like some of the flowers on the path are growing out of plain rock. Your ferns turned out great. The scene on whole is displaying some tenacious dedication and tedium that I don't think I would have the patience for. Great stuff.

Yeah, that's one of my fix-it issues. I was dreading going back and fixing the height on all of them one at a time, but I have to do it.

If you click the last image, it will show updates of what I have done, after I fix the flowers and the path blending, it's all water stuff. But I don't know if there's "room" for a waterfall. It's a pretty tight/narrow scene. So maybe just trickles of water here and there.

That's one of my personal issues. It gets to a point where I just want to see it "done". Then I get all antsy and it goes into the WIP folder because I want to do something else. I gotta break that cycle. There are a few things I had to go back and re-do because I was getting antsy to see it done.

Amen. I think that's a pretty common trait for most of us though. Once it's created and all that's left is polish, it doesn't feed your right brain nearly as much.

Quick update. Going to fix the transition in some areas and then fix the flowers.

Posted this over at Polycount... thought I'd double pimp it over here.I'm gonna tune down the blue light on her body as it's a bit overwhelming everything. Add some post hair strands and add some stuff into the bg.
    Again any feedback/crits are welcome.

Is that a jellyfish? I'd put some work into the material for that, there's a lot you can do with it. Give it a slight transparent look, and add some color into it. Right now the image is all blue, you're loosing your detail in the blown out light.
