Hey, all! Thanks for the great feedback! We just wanted to let you know that we've just launched our development blog, which you can find at http://blog.mage-maze.com. I've added some development artwork and we'll be adding other fun stuff there as time goes on. We should also have an improved build of the game up in the next day or two also!

And we've updated the online build. Which features a lives system, so you can die multiple times before it's game-over. A 1UP item is yet to come though.
And some bugs got fixed, where others got introduced.

    Hey guys,

    Long time no update!
I just wanted to let you know that we have updated the public build on mage-maze.com!

This update features new weapons you can use to bash monster head, lives system, loading screen, first drafts on sounds by Output Audio and much more.

    Check it out at www.mage-maze.com!

Next update will contain smarter monster AI and hopefully level progression and traps. And with many other neat little features still on the to-do list.

Long time no update, but MageMaze has progressed well the past month.
We think the game is starting to really take shape into something nice, so we thought we should share it to the world!
This new build features multiple levels, objectives, new tile sets, locked tiles, etc...

A beta build is quite close (when we include all the features the game will have) and then we can start polishing it up like tweaking difficulty, objectives and loads of bug fixing.

In any case, check it out at www.mage-maze.com

We're really excited about this new build, which is a huge advance from the previous one. Just so you know, we've got different 4 different levels now, new tile-sets for each of the levels, more effects in, our new soundtrack and sound effects, new weapon classes, and a lot more refined dialogue. It's really coming along. Hope you'll give it a shot and let us know what you think...! :thumb:

Hey I really like it, one thing I noticed though is that the monsters don't make that confused look when they don't have an open trail to you, I personally though it helped make the same seem more lively, I like the other additions though. Keep up the good work!

Oh and do you plan on making anymore soundtracks? Like once that may be a little more ominous as you go a but deeper or anything?

nice work guys! The game is really coming along nicely, the only bug I noticed was on the second level a sword and money pile spawned in on the same tile; I got the sword but the money pile was not able to be picked up. All other money piles and swords functioned properly.

    Hey, thanks for the notes!

Shadownami92 - The confused faces when monsters get trapped are part of the AI overhaul that Maph is currently working on. Don't worry, the confused faces will be back! (Glad you like them.) We also have hopes of getting more music as time goes on.

Sandbag - Good catch! I saw the same thing myself on the 3rd or 4th level. Definitely on the list to be fixed. :thumb:

Here are some screenshots from the new demo:

That sword+gold on the same tile bug has been in there for a while. I reckon it's time I fixed it.

Game looks and sounds awesome. Great job guys.

I did stumble upon a bug of sorts.
On a level where you're supposed to survive for five minutes (3rd I belive) The door appeared on the bottom right tile, and since you can't move first and last column/row there was no way for me to move them so I could go in

Hoping to see more soon :thumb:

Hey, everyone! We're really excited to announce that we've got our full demo build of MageMaze done and playable! We've been crunching to complete a full demo in time for the Independent Games Festival competition deadline and Maph just put our latest build on-line. Play the web build of the game at
    www.Mage-Maze.com

We still have a few days before we need to submit to the IGF, so we would love to hear any feedback on how the game works for you and any suggestions. You can add them to this thread, PM us, or e-mail mike-at-mage.maze.com. Look forward to hearing from you all... Thanks!

So awesome. It's real cool you guys have that web version too. I was gonna say, I don't have any iPhone-type device so I couldn't check it out.

The only problem I had with it is that I wasn't getting any audio. But not sure if it's supposed to be that way or what.

You should have audio, check the sliders of BGM / SFX volume in the settings. But it may be a bug I overlooked (ie. no default audio settings found -> volume = 0). I'll look in to that one.

Yeah, you're right. I just had to go into Options and bump up the volume. Guess I just assumed it would be on by default.
