    Hey guys,
First off...life is crazy now! I just bought a new truck. I have to change my residency to California this week. Change insurance. Find a new Apartment. Work 40 hours a week. Comicon Challenge. No Excuses though right??!

I am doing an Aged Iceman Character. I am really looking forward to sculpting him, studying ice formations, creating a unique texture for him, creating a custom SSS Shader, and capturing the look I am envisioning in my head which will be concepted in Photoshop this week when I find time. So far, I have put together a few reference Images I will be using. Let it begin!

    Left - Texture Reference
    Right - Hair Style Reference

Haha goast, I knew you were going to say something about the DBZ references. Idk what you say, I love that show!

Oh and thanks guys, I am busy, but starting tomorrow I am going to be playing with Z4 for the first time and I am going to start Iceman! I am pretty excited to get working on him! I also found a perfect character that I am going to be referencing a lot, his name is Loz, you may recognize him from ff7 Advent Children. I put together a little reference sheet to use when I am sculpting.

I spent a few hours getting a feel for iceman in photoshop just painting. Not my strong suit, but it helps me get a feel for the look I am going for. I think he will be in his leather Xmen suit with ice shards sticking out in parts.

Ok, I have had enough of Zspheres...they are kind of annoying when they don't do what you want them to do....I def. need more practice with them though. I am going to fix the anatomy once I start sculpting on the geometry. Here is the update.

Hey guys, so I converted my zspheres to a mesh and started sculpting...unfortunitally I didn't build it correctly and the topolgy was very screwed up...infact you can see some areas in the sculpt that geometry folds on top of itself (look at the line accross his back) So I blocked in the basic anatomy and my next step will be to retopo him and re project the little bit of sculpting that i have already done. Critiques on the anatomy would be much appreciated! =) Thanks

I like the anatomy so far !! It's nervous and there's an interesting mix between manga and comics in your character.

    Keep the good work !!

Pretty cool man, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the shader work.

Thought id jump in and just let you know that a lot of guys that use the new z spheres often create a base mesh out of it, touch up what they can and then bring it into Max or Maya and retopo it to make a clean quad mesh. After that they take the clean quad mesh and bring it back into Zbrush again to finish the sculpt.

    Good luck!

Thanks Xav! =) That is the look I am going for. I love mixing styles, its so fun!

Thanks Woozy! I am looking forward to the shader too! =P Also, I am using topogun to retopo my mesh. Same kind of workflow process I think your talking about...here's a screen shot of my progress in Topogun...I really love that program.

His butt is a little high on his back. The back of the legs seem to have a very hard edge on them. The hands look great. The forearms seem a bit too long compared to the upper arm...actually, the upper arm is too short...elbow at the belly button.
Other than that it's looking sweet.

yeah I'd also say that the trapezius is way too short and all the muscles underneath and below like the teres major and minor are consequently too high up - the front looks much better...:thumb:

  18. I always love stylized charcters and I'm pretty sure I'm going to like this one too.

Good progress so far and it sounds like you already know what to work on so I'll just sit and watch for now.

    Best of luck!
