Smile Help with 3D and organics

Hi my name is Daniel Paynter and i just recently joined GA and i was just wondering if anyone in the advanced areas of maya, mudbox, and zbrush could possibly help me out, i am currently a student attending Full Sail University and i previously attended University of Advancing Technology, I have worked in maya for about 4 years now on and off, im by no means advanced but i would atleast say intermediate. I have modeled objects for games and was an environment artist for a quake 4 mod but now ive decided that i enjoy spending my time in zbrush and sculpting everything, im a horrid 2d artist but i really really want to be an organic modeler in the game industry, i was wondering what anyone who is either in the industry or advanced with sculpting and organic modeling would be able to tell me to help me along the way. Where to start and to really focus on to become better and be more knowledgeable

Organic modeling - anatomy, anatomy, anatomy! Get books from people like Loomis, look up anatomy books on Amazon, there's tons of them If you want to get a hands on experience with ZBrush quickly, I'd check out Digital tutors, they do some pretty good introductory tutorials for Zbrush and Mudbox. To be honest it doesn't matter what app you use as long as you have a solid understanding of anatomy fundamentals and taking the time to learn and implement them in your work - there's no sure fire way to being an amazing modeler in the span of a few weeks.

Get tons of anatomy references off the net, from books or sites like 3Dsk, start off in ZB or Mudbox with a bust or a part of anatomy such as the torso and try and refine it to as close as your reference as possible. Then post in the WIP section Looking forward to seeing your stuff man!

P.S. Life drawing helps a lot, get yourself into some classes and most of all, don't get lazy with it

Hit me up, I live right down the street from Full Sail. We can collaborate. PM me your number or something.
