  1. Fedaykin from Dune

This is my second character that I made. Its a fedaykin warrior in stillsuit based on David Lynch`s Dune, but I have modified the design so it suits more for a warrior.
Its nearly complete but I`m not happy with the result. It would be nice, if I could get some CC and suggestions to improve it. Thanks !

    9776 poly
Head, body texture 2k diff, norm, spec and a glow map for the eyes.

Images are in 3ds max, I`m using the 3d point shader lite.
Final presentation will be in UDK.

Big fan of Dune here. So its always nice to see Dune Fanart.

I like the overall design but a few things i've picked up on is the fact that the suit looks brand spanking new. I know the Fremen take good care of their equipment but you cannot stop wear and tear. So i think you should add some to the texture as well as some sand build up in the folds of the suit. I would also darken the areas around the folds to help give the texture depth.

I would also redo the normals on the balaclava. I would of done the creases much stronger around the neck area and would of added bumps to show the position of the ears.

But a lovely piece of work just needs a few things added to it. well done.

  3. Hey, thanks for the suggestions ! You are right about the head cap, it needs more attention. The thing with the wear and dust is funny, because there is some on him, but looks like its hardly noticeable. I have to send him back into a sandstorm
Lately had no time to work on it, but tomorrow I will do the modifications.
    Thanks again.

Yeah keep at it. Sadly there isn't enough Dune fanart, which is surprising since it’s such a rich 'verse. So it's always nice to see some :P.

I can just about pick out some wear in the suit here and there (it could be my monitor’s brightness and contrast though). You have alot of lovely overlapping sections to your design which would be worn down after a prolonged use which I would invest a bit of time in on your Diffuse. I believe it’ll sell it more.

    But keep it up.

  5. I think I know what you mean. I`ve modified the diffuse map and made some folds in the cap, but I have some hard time to get it right. I would say my texturing abilities are the weakest from my skills. I have to practice more on that.
I made the dust lil bit reddish so it will come out more with the beige, sand like color of the suit. The specular is modified too so the rubber like material is now less shiny because of the dust.

Yeah would be nice if there were some new dune game too. First time ever met the world of dune was with the Dune 2 strategy game from Westwood Studios.
