So here's a small drawing session i had, the one on my thumb was the first one , i had troubles figuring out a leg/arm shape and i wanted to do "circles" on the back of the character aswell, not going to do it though. Way to many people figure this shape beeing something pushing up the status of a concept.
So the 2nd concept and the 3rd one are something i will go for. More likly i will stick to Concept 3, the idea behind it is:
The Chess game contains of different roles, there's also a queen and king, so i kinda though "why not a god as a chess figure?" so yeh it didn't turn out to well but its still a idea.

i may combine both, but about the chest thing. Imagin him just floating or porting to the instance that is happening and him walking off his podest going into the battle doing everything with his "will-power" or even psy. phear meh!

Man that third one looks pretty cool, but I'd have to say the 2nd one's silhouette makes me extremely giddy!

A god of chess pieces sounds amazing! Have you figured out how he will move? What restrictions are forced on him in regards to movement? How does he "take" other pieces? Maybe that will help influence your design's more detailed steps forward.
