Thanks guys for your input. Still debating. I like P too , but what if I want a dark backgroun for the final. The best positives of the black is that it has more team colors showing and I think its easier to look. Ia'm just partial to blue and gold of Q. But I will have to do another paintover or two to incorporate most of your suggestions. Meanwhile enjoy my latest head study and my new avie.

I like the new design, especially the expression on the face. Too many mean looking gods in this competition (including mine. ) Love the colors too, as I've always had a weakness for colored hair. Nice details on the great staff too. Good luck with the rest! :thumb:

This style is much better. Very appealing. What program are you working in? You may be able to get away with lineweight art, with paths.

Ha nice, maybe add a spring + hair curl or two for "Jewish style" bangs.
Keep on trucking, we are watching, no pressure.

She's looking very cute! I like her! Very much coming to life!
She has so much potential to totally deck out in unique finery! I can't wait to see the finished picture!
What about hair that has clock hands in it. Just an idea, I understand if you've decided on the current hair, plus I'm not sure if this idea would be too busy or not.

Hey everybody thanks for your great crits and comments.
Walrus: you like colored hair , then meet some of my other characters they have lots of colored hair:-)Maybe it's my feminine sensibilities I just like to draw pretty style. I always envy men though for being able to weird and ugly drawing styles. If that makes sense.

Womball: I tried usinga Manga studio, but I forgot how to change the ink tolerance, but I used photoshop for that study , it seems like everytime I have photoshop open for coloring ..that I have to relearn to color it. But for the real thing. I hand pencil then digitally ink in photoshop. I can't use paths in photoshop , I have to use in illustrator and it would take forever. I'm not very patient with inking by hand either. But I'll try paths for D'inking.
Sinz: I was actually thinking of curlier hair last night to convey more that she is the princess type but I didn't think about springs..hmmm.
Raz: I will take all suggestions for now. I'm not at the point whereI say " that's her she's done!"..yet. I hope that she will be thought out though by the end of next week though. I wnat to start onher model sheet..I find that always harder than the main pic. So yeah there are probably a few more hair styles to try out and of course jewlrey.
I'm going to start sketching now...my pencils miss me. Hope to post later tonight or tomorrow. Keep you comments a comin'. They are much appreciated. :-)

So the question for those of who didn't answer do you guys like P or Q better? So far I have three people for 0 and 2 for Q.

Here's another post guys! I took Sinz & Raz's suggestions for different hairstyles. All my manga references including a gown and kimono encyclopedia really helped on these studies. Although I hope my family an help with poses and photos. I need to go through a bow katta or two. To help me figure how she'll move because my dummy is a bit too stiff. And refererence kung fu pics of spear wielders.

    But let's post:

I thought about how big should the weapon bein relation to her? Can she comfortablyweild it? What does the back andside of the bodice , look like. How does she move in fashionable clothing. With the grace of a ballet dancer and the balance of a gymnast. Her dress reminds me of a tutu and the sandals have the ribbons of slippers and the bun. Still more issues to find outlike where do hang an hour glass on a dress? I need to mmake a charm belt. I hope to have figured out soon. Oh raz I forgot to do the hair. Is a clockhand bit because I mis interpreted the sketch as an end cap instead. Please email me paintovers .. I can't save by right clicking ..on. the cell. Still got a lot to figure out. :-)

Nice sketches! I like the shape of the buns in B, it reminds me of grandfather clocks.
I like the clock shapes on the halo in F.
I like the clock hand shape at the end of the hair. ^__^
I very much enjoyed the costume and weapon sketches. I really like the view of her costume from the back.
I'll try to be more constructive tomorrow... I"m getting tired. lol. Keep up the great sketches!

Actually, paint studio Sai, is really good with paths. Kind of works like vertices in a 3d program, and you adjust the width at each point you clicked to make the line or curve.

Will bechoosing today after I do more studies of hair with the blue and gold(Q) and black and gold costume (P). I know weKre supposed to show team colors by using black and gold but I'm really partial to the blue. But I will make my decision soon want to get model sheets started already.

In answer to your inquiry RaZ I made a study for eyes, glowing and gold. I like the gold eyes personally. And I was curious. I still like Blue better than the black costume though but it really depends on the background. Of the final concept wether it's light or dark. I can't have the spear be black either with a black outfit..maybe gold will be better or a neutral wood color. As usual crits and comments are addictively craved and apprecciated.

Hey Thanks for sharing your input Amethyst and Raz I really appreciate it. It seems that S has the majority vote so far at 4 votes. Her eyes will be gold when not using her powers. I found a compromise her costume will be a dark blue black compromise. I really couldn't decide between the two. Although The Hair is more blue now than purple. This is just a study Not the final hair style yet!!!! I really like the side ponytail with curls though.

This the other project I finally started my door mural.

That's all for today until Friday. As always crtis and cooments are appreciated.

Hey Everyone sorry I haven't been making regular posts, weekends are hectic with voolunteer work, mural and Family and even busierthis week during Holy Week. Happy Passover!

I just havethree more details to decide on and I can start on my ortho and rough concept sketches.

Corrected the shading for the avie and the original study ( not shown yet)

Which tiara rules supreme? 8 kinda of like with creepy black eyes when she's not using her powers. I think I pretty much know what I want to do with everything, but it doesn't help to get second opinion. As always crits and comments are appreciated!

    I like B.
I like how the hair picks seems like clock hands.
I feel like the ones with the cut edges remind me a little bit of a maid hat. While it is an interesting shape, I think it makes it harder to tell that it's a clock. But, so what you may!

    Looking cool!

V black spear tip. Nose looks too wide and I think you would see a part of the second wing of the nose. Also the lips look off similarly, with t I like the black sclera (white of the eye)in E and C. Really makes the gold pop. What's holding the cogs to her hair? Definetly reference this facial pose even more. I think it will really help make everything work. And are you going to be adding any darker shading?

Sorry I haven't been on had hardly anytime to draw this week with my mural and the holidays. Well we took lots of reference. The things we artists go through to get reference . Wittled down to the ortho poses and two final poses. I'm now working on my turnarounds and concept painting simutaneously. Once the mural is finished I'll be going back my entry in fullsteam.

This one of the poses that made the cut, But I know how limited my charcter is her costume now in movement. It was freezing that day so looking sexy is the last thing on my mind.

The red pencil sketch is for my front orthoganal. Decided tostay with her original design. Because nothing else was making me happy and she's also hard enough to draw. This one took me four hours!

Still working on Orthos. I'm on the last stages of my mural, took the night off to rest and watch Glee. Well and an hour and a half anyway without using my hands.

Finished the preliminary trurnaround or orthos of Samaya. I. Used grid system this time and so far it really works. I still need to edit the character down she still takes abour two hours to draw with everything . Samya could be good for computer animaion or as alive action or theatrical costume. Sadly she'll never be a 2 animated character..too costly.

My latest mural update: I think it could be finished after tomorrow!
