Here is my concept for Dominance War. I Had some text but internet cut out on me. I will come up with something better. I would like to hear everyones thoughts though. I was thinking that a god that controls time would be a sufficent way to end the war and begin dominance war again, because he controls time. He decides fate of all and has little minions to control stuff within time. I don't know, lol. Any ideas to make this better will help out. Here we go. I've came to play finally.

    Razvan-Sedekiah, Ksan- Thanks!:thumb:

Filip Burburan- It is an honor to have you stop by and leave a compliment like that. Thanks a ton! I still struggle a bit with environments though; I find myself reworking composition with everyone that i do. I don't do enough thumbnails, which is probably why I can get it right sometimes hehe. I do admit though they are fun to do once I get into working on one. Still have many things to learn though. Thanks again for stopping by. Any advice, crits would be much appreciated.:thumb:

I like B. However, I also prefer the multiple arm approach near the head. Additionally, I like the start, but on first glance, I saw a lot of clocks. Then I started noticing the heads and clocks. I think you could push tome more biological aspects, make them seem like sentient beings. However, I like your sketch quality so far.

Looking great! I love the designs, especially C (although the curves make the god look more female than male.) Can't wait to see where you go from here.

    hey!
    it's a good idea!

for me, there are intersting things in each proposal, so i'll try to explain what i mean =]
i like the dissimmetry of the "breast" in the A and the sandglass. In the B i prefer the roundness of the brest, in the C (according with nghtblue) i like the curves, but if you take the sandglass of the A you can use these curves on it and finally in the D i like the bottom of the body.

    sorry if it's not clear..

    [few minutes later]

ok, i did something in photoshop because it was annoying me

    cheers

I liked A! Very, very cool! I would stay away from scales, since they don't convey time as well to me.
Some kinda glowing arch of clockhands and numbers might look good. Something glowing and magical to show that he is not just an elaborate clock.

Keep up the very neat, original, sweet work!

Ksan, Nightblue, Lulu, Razvan-Sedekiah- I've taken a lot of what you guys and gals said and came up with some new results. Thanks for the input. i still haven't settled on a design yet. I've been working on other stuff and put this one on the backburner for a minute until something clear comes up. I did make adjustments to the design though. Slender body, top heavy and bottom heavy seemed to work out a lot better. I am about there though. Again thanks.

sinz-actually it is my entry LOL. Thanks though.

Here are a few comps that I came up with and a revised design still working out the design a bit though. Any feedback is always awesome. Let me know what you all think. Sorry for the inactivity. I have plenty of threads to visit. :thumb:

Given that your god is already so symmetrical, I'd suggest going with a very asymmetrical composition to avoid it looking just like the front view of your model sheet. A and B are both asymmetrical and have a dramatic upwards angle that makes your god seem more impressive.

As for color, they're all really nice. I like how 'A' gets a few more colors in there - warms from an explosion and the cools from the sky. (H has a two-tone thing going on too but because the colors are so glaring, it's not working as well, imho.) E would be nice if you want to set your god clearly in a terrestrial setting. But I also like C and F. Looks like no matter what you'll have some nice colors. Good luck! :thumb:

Thanks Mike for the crits and input. They are very valuable. Let me see what I can come up with. I will try some other color combinations to see what works with the more asemetrical comps. I was soo unsure what direction to go. I have a general idea of where to go now. Thanks again.

Again, I am open to any input to help get this one as best as possible. Post your thoughts, crits, what you'd think would help the design better. Another one polished up a bit. Some obvious perspective mistakes, I know now looking at it, I'll revisit them today.

I agree with walrus on that work that camera and get those angles in there I like the swing on thing things on the side looks very good and just make it look like a sh*t storm is a brewing!

I love your blog by the way awesome work you got skilllllz

  16. Great thumbs and I'm liking the latest composition, got some good kinetic energy going there. I can see it whirling through an army, aging the soldiers into old men and skeletons. In fact, what about making the whole thing out of bones, to emphasise the 'age' thing, or giant hourglasses with human skulls instead of sand grains? Anyway, just thinking aloud, looking good so far - keep it up!

talonhawk- Thanks man, I worked one out lastnight.:thumb:

BaronImpossible- Hey Simon! You just gave me a butt load of ideas to do some stuff. As far as the hourglass and skulls and bones, are you talking about the character? Thanks man much needed. Back to the drawing board. (dang I wish kinda you would have dropped in earlier to give me this feedback hehe.)

Here is another Comp. I think I might settle for this one.

I like this one better. Feels monumental and godly. The perspective works way better and sense of scale is much stronger. I checked out your portfolio and I am sure you can pull this one off with some crazy details :thumb: Good luck man, you've helped everyone around the forum so much so I wish you all the best with your entry
