    Hi

So some guys decided to build their city on a giant walking man/mountain thing. It's entirely possible this was to avoid the giant, man-eating crabs roaming the surrounding areas.

Concepting is my weakest area so I want to try out a few ideas before I settle on a final one to model. Plus this looks a little like an inferior version of Evan's =P

I think the concept illustrates the idea really well. Nice!

Crap, I already submited my concept for approval to enter... ours share a bit in common. I beleive there is enough similarities to set them apart though. That being said, I like how yours came out =). Nice job and best of luck sir.

  5. I'd like to have a Wallpaper of Atlas and Living Mountain fending off giant crabs.

really digging him & what looks like the jersey shore on top of him lol i dunno something about the lighthouse & the hot air balloon. to me it looks a a bit more turn of the century than fantasy. i don't know if that's what you were essentially going for or not.
the lighthouse is a really cool idea though. might make that taller than the other tower though if it's going to spin? and is that crane rig hanging down in front of his face kind of like a carrot on a string to get him to move? that's also cool but that kind of makes me think of him as a pretty docile creature. again if that's what you're going for, cool! then again, with essentially a town on top of him, he'd have to remain pretty docile lol
keep on going with this one!

Small update - top half became something a little different, like a basking shark, it slowly walks along feeding on birds, insects and low flying aircraft that fly into it's maw. It can suck in air and blow it out the 'gills' on it's back if detects a lot of food in the vicinity.

kurocrash - Yeah, was aiming for sort of turn of the century mediterranean town style buildings and colours. Creature is definately docile and slow moving, dunno if it's domesticated or more of a symbiotic thing, liek the humans keep it clean or something...

Not entirely sure what to do with the texture of the body, atm some bits are hairy, others craggy, some smooth stuff. I want to keep away from 'living rock' but does anyone ahve any suggestions?

you may want to go the way of the elephant. Well, at least thats the feeling I get when looking at the feet. So, large, heavy wrinkles, a dirty greyish color, for the bottom half. No idea for the top.

The feel of this giant reminds me of something out of Princess Mononoke, it has a cool Hayao Miyazaki feel to it. I’m digging the direction but it would be cool if he were hunched over a bit more like an old man struggling to walk. All in all cool stuff.

The face of your first version suited him better, imho.
The face got a silence and peaceful expression ... yeah like
an elephant. So i would stick with that, if that's what you
    are aiming at.

This guy is lookin pretty cool Monkuk I like the symbiotic idea, you should have little window washer type baskets hanging down the sides which the people use to wash him. i also think a wind mill would look cool somewhere in there, ... maybe even set up to take advantage of the air being blown out of his gills in the back!
