Ok... so the thumbnail is crap... I'm not actually going with that concept. I'm aiming for a Big Friendly Giant theme... so I'm going to allocate about 1000 tris for a small character (is that legal?) I'm having trouble with these concepts but I'm looking to finish this one for sure... I'll also be normal mapping for the first time.
you kind of need a character to kind of show off the scale anyhow. that's why one's offered for download. it's not part of the giant character's count.
Contest Brief
and you don't have to use that guy, but see, it's independent of the count & everything.

That's good to know... I should be a bit more observant. Well, that's great! I have an extra 1,000 tris for my giant!![]()
Ok, so I've done the complete opposite of a friendly giant and conceptualized a Big Fu**ing Ghost... or demon... or whatever. The idea is that this human is possessed by an evil spirit. The spirit takes form of a giant demon like apparation petruding from the human's back. Not so friendly... I've been on a demon thing lately... my pocket monster over at CGChat is also demon like... Not sure if that's too good... But oh well, this is only concept... I'll try to come up with some others... let me know what you think peeps. Thanks!
it would be totally awesome if the ghost came out of your dudes mouth, you could have some bad ass poses with that!
Good Idea! I think I just might go with that...
I love the direction you’re taking with the creature, very reminiscent of the FFXI Ifrit! Rock on man!

Alright, it's been a while since my last update... or since my first update I guess. Well, it's my first pass at Mudbox and the whole sculpting thing, that stuff is a whole lot of fun! But now I'm on to the texturing and I sorta don't know what to do... it's a little different than soley relying on your diffuse map to express all the detail. I'll figure it out but yeah... here's what I've got for ya. The first two shots are screen captures from mudbox and the last is the lowpoly normal map.
Awsome stuff!Give us more!
I know what you mean. When you start modeling, it's hard to stop. It's just like playing with clay, lot's and lot's of fun. Nice work here. The transition from from high poly to low poly was extremely smooth. Well done. It's looking really good.
man that is looking greathow are u gonna connect it to the human?
Crit: He looks a little bit flat from the front and back, which in return makes the head look out of place because it is so round. Also the transition from the neck to the head is non existent. Just something to think about before you move on
Frozan- I was intending on making some sort of glowly smoke effect transitiong from the Human's mouth to the torn loin cloth.
Thanks for the comments and crits guys! Well, I'm way behind on the texture and only have 8 hours to submit... not good. I'm going to try, but it doesn't look like I'll be able to finish. *sigh
I'll still finish him, but probably not in time for the comp... but we'll see.
Actually, it seems that the deadline has been postponed for a week. So, you still have a chance to finish it for the comp.![]()
sweet i cant wait to see the end product
One week extension!!!!! Woohoo! That's awesome because I crammed my a$$ of last night... I textured like a mad man. Came out pretty decent as well; however, I didn't get to add in the human like I wanted, his pose is soft selected rather than rigged, and I didn't know how to do emmissive maps so my effects look like SH**. But hey, 1 week is more than enough time to prepare the finishing touches. Yes... here's a little update... or what would have been my final entry.
sorry i haven't followed since you changed concepts, but i like it! sort of a weird evil genie thing going on! very cool! kind of strikes me as half ifrit from FF/half slimer for some reason lol nice job!
