Check out the movie "Pathfinder". They had excellent bulky Viking costumes in that movie. It may help you with some ideas. Nice start btw.

Thanks! My friend Patrick actually suggested the same thing
Here's a quick ref sheet I threw together out of some images I've saved. I'm planning on making the awesome mistake of trying to give this guy some fur elements and I'll be adding a lot of animal skulls to his getup (Beast adorned in beasts... get it?) Tomorrow I'll try painting over this.

Great, another viking my Magneto can beat the shit out :lucky: .

The references are great and the idea with the skulls is cool. I wish you good luck.

Alright- I talked to some of my co-workers about this and decided to push more of an alchemist route rather than barbarian. I'm still going for the vikingesque time period- so I'll just say he's nordic

Here's what I've got so far concept wise- feel free to throw any suggestions at me. I dropped the skulls in favor of books, bottles and scrolls.

Liking the idea, they will merge well.
Your concept reminds me of the World of Warcraft style. I think you should go with it, but just make the textures a bit more real and dirty.

Hoot hoot, another viking! Sweet, can't get enough of them!
The concept looks good, and to make it better, I think you could add furr shoulderpads instead of the pad you have now. It will make him look bigger and not so much warriorlike (since you are aiming to create an alchemist)

    Keep it up

Really great looking work so far! Looking at your reference pictures, makes me think perhaps it could be interesting to play around with how Hank's hair vaguely mirrors the stereotypical horned viking helmets. But great looking work so far, good luck!

Very nice work. The books, bottles, etc really works well. How are you going about the body hair/fur. Anything special planned?

Maybe you could add some specticles into the mix but viking style
