korpusenko: Damn man, you did that fast. I like him so far. Are you calling it done or are you still plugging away?

crashadams: No, it's not necessary. However, in this situation, I went ahead and did it for two reasons. One, since this contest relies on hand-painted textures, I can now lasso parts of the painting and slap them onto my model when I get to that point. Two, I like painting. :lucky: Also, my name is not intended to reference DEVO, but no worries.

Here's some progress on my thief

I've started to do some coloring, should have a completed color work up soon, then I'll get to the 3d work.

i sculpt using a mouse,,,it can be very challenging,,,but i have always believed the trick is in your thumb and hands to sculpt,,,every chance i get to sculpt i take it :P,,,it helps me improve my skills with mu mouse...and 1250 tris low poly characters are easy to model,,they are mostly squarish,,,i wanted to go for a high poly sculpt also..

@justb :- looks nice...i dont know why but his mask sorta reminds me of a horror flick i have seen, cant remember which one,,was it freddy vs jason?

    @Dvolution nice work

@Crashadams :- your concept has a nice foundation to it,,perhaps you should go for a centaur rather than a spiderman?

    something on these lines?

@Dirigible hahaha exactly what I was thinking with the mouse sculpting...*goes cross-eyed thinking about it*

@animatoor nice concept! Actually I'm thinking about scrapping it for one of my earlier concepts pictured below...spider goat was supposed to be a joke referring to the real life genetically engineered goats with spider silk in their milk...look it up it's pretty freaky.

@crashadams:- thats a chicken head right?,,has good potential for a chibi,,,try to experiment,,and ask fred(the admin) if its okay to combine species....there was a discussion abt it earlier in the thread...

,zbrush is a lotta fun,,been trying to save cash to buy a wacom,,maybe soon

Dvolution: If your final sculpt turns out as nice as your concept - it will be awesome!
crashadams: artists can make a perfect concept or not - the value of a good concept is that it will be easier to model, I think. Modelling takes time so many artists just go straight to sculpting with a basic idea what they want to do. There are no rules, my 2 cents.

Looking forward to your next updates. Good Luck!

Concept done, now to get modeling! Hopefully I'll have enough tris in budget to get some of my detail modeled in. I'm overall happy with his form, but I'll have to fiddle with his color palette a little if there isn't enough contrast in the final texture.

@Bishop313 - I really like the broken weapon and giant shoulders.

Many interesting characters in the works here, think I'm going to join in on this ^^

Been working a bit on two concepts, thinking of maybe doing a knight or something of a voodoo priest. (Although not sure if that counts as a wizard or a form of cleric, with the dark arts and all that).

@animatoor lol thanks man, I think I decided to opt out of the goat concept. Again it was meant as a parody and I don't feel I pulled it off very well. Going to go for the "Chicken Thief", another play on words.

    Me too.
It's only a problem with precision sculpting (more of shaking), but there is the alphas or the lazy mouse in these cases.
