what do you mean internship portfolio? did you do all of that while at an internship for a company? or are you trying to get an internship with that portfolio? in any case, not sure what you are trying to get a gig as...3d character artist or concept artist? it may be best to focus on one.
Whatever you are going for there is some fantastic stuff in there, congrats!
Your work is awesome![]()
jeah awesome stuff in your portfolio. Btw are you seeking an internship because you dont have any industry experiences? You are good so i would try both ways, that means i would apply for junior positions and for internships.
The only crit is that i dont see in which direction you want to go. It should be clear in your portfolio where you are heading. (Character, environment, concept and so on). Or at least make that clear in you application. Because your future employer will only consider the stuff which is in that area and would only see the rest as a boni.
But even i got accepted for an internship at a major game comany in my country (a week ago) and i am also a in "every field working machine"^^ so i dont see any problems that you wont achieve the same with your skill level. My portfolio i filled with all kind of stuff but i made it clear in my cover letter that i for example definatly want to be an environment artist and they said thats ok.
sarakawa: By "internship portfolio" I mean that I'm using that as my portfolio in an attempt to get an internship. Sorry if that was confusing, I could have worded that more clearly. The companies I applied to were looking for both 2D and 3D abilities and the internship I applied for was "Character Artist", however, it wasn't limited to just 3D work. When it comes to graduation, my portfolio will realistically be geared towards 3D character work, and I'll change my "title" at that time as well.
Von Hoggler: Thanks man.
Torch: I appreciate that, thanks.
ArminChaudhry: Thanks. I'm currently seeking an internship for the summer. The way my program is set up, I currently have around three and a half months of down time between modules. So I figure if I can get an internship, it'll be a feather in my cap once I actually graduate. I agree about the focus, Sarakawa mentioned that as well. My professor actually told me to leave it as a vague title for the time being and change it to something more specific once I get closer to graduation.
My goal is to shoot for characters, so that will definitely be what my "title" is when I'm assembling my final portfolio.
Congratulations on landing an internship! I did specify which position I was aiming for in the cover letters I wrote; they were all character based, so that's why the brunt of that work is in the front of the portfolio.
Thanks for all the comments everyone.![]()
you have a very playful looking style, its pleasing to eye...good stuff![]()
Cool stuff!
Looking very nice. You have a lot of cartoony looking stuff and its great. However, I would suggest you to do more realistic characters so you can show the eployer that you can do realistic stuff aswell . By that I mean something like BF3 style characters or Witcher or Rift ...
Good luck with your career !
Your artworks is very interesting. I like how you treat the colors and the shapes. I don't think you'll have a problem to find an internship, as long as you're aiming for a company that make stuffs like yours (that's why ahtiandr told you to make realistic content too so you can apply to companies who actually do realistic games). Good luck with your career!![]()
Dang! Amazing work. You've got the best of both worlds. Your 3d stuff is a little bit stronger though. I'd say any studio would be lucky to have you work there.
I want to say good luck but I know you won't need it. :thumb:
Very nice, and great texturing skills, I esp like the lil robot and the knight character. You got a good ability to keep a texture clean and balanced, as can be seen in the creature from the black lagoon character. The detail does not go beyond the res that the texture can support and the whole thing has a really polished but not overworked look to it.
Absolutely LOVE your work! You have such a cool style, very inspiring!
Instead of all those pieces dumped into 1 post as 'Portfolio', instead I would separate them up. And give them different tags: characters, items, vehicle, concept, lowpoly, hard surface, and etc.
Note: I'm not a big fan of Blog though. I prefer Website.
Zerafian & nsomnia: Thanks guys!
ahtiandr: Yeah, I plan to do some other styles soon-ish. I have about a year left before I graduate. Thanks.
megalmn2000: Thanks, I hope you're right. I did apply to more "painterly" studios.
jajeev: Thanks man.![]()
aten: Thanks much, I appreciate it!
TheQiwiMan: Wow, thanks a lot Qiwi. Ha, I've never had my work called inspiring before. Also, the charmeleon you made not too long ago was great. :thumb:
PyrZern: I do have a website, however, I didn't have the time to update all the HTML, so I just used my blog. When I start applying for jobs it will be with my proper portfolio site.
I reaally like your work
Good luck for your internship search! :thumb:
ptitbiscuit: Thanks very much.
