I think you took the contrast thing a bit to far dude. There is so much black in the image all the buildings are is silhouettes, the sky is so light but the roofs are all black @_@. Also the ground in front is like super specular, it seems ok in your other images i duno whats going on with the latest one.

@blupanda,,what type of display are you using?, the latest one has been retouched for LCD display(im hoping)

i am having a confusing problem man,,,the image is looking very different on my CRT and my LCD,,my LCD seems to remove a lot of my contrast, and it brightens up my rendered image a lot,,, ,,, i dont know how its looking on others monitors,,,can someone tell me a solution to this dilemma?its driving me nuts,,i am happy to get a nice render off on which i must have poured in hours,,with the colour combo and tone i wanted,,,then i get this dilema that it may be looking very different on others screens?,,,is there like a standard i can perhaps adjust my CRT to,,so it looks the same on all types of screens?

can someone plz suggest a solution?:flag:

well i jus found a solution to this irritating problem i am gonna use the ICC colour suggestions and gamma levels,,,now i guess everybody should recaliberate their monitors too,,,becuse i observed a massive difference in contrast, brightness and color,,, so we may not be looking at what everyone has been wanting us to look at

this color-correction thing is big stuff,,i actually came across hardwares designed to take colors from our monitors and compare them to photos taken by pro's to create a standard colour profile,so they can print the colors properly as they shot it or painted it.serious stuff

i found a solution wanted to share it with people having the same probs... set ur mointors temp to 6500 K, if ur graphic drivers do not have a color optimization utility there are some freewares u can find on the net
nvidia drivers also come with a built-in color correction utility,,man i thought this utility was for our pleasure:P,,newaz i am relieved to know that my renders are gonna be accurate according to industry standards.

    render

heres an another one ,,,now for those whose monitors may not be caliberated,,,originally it has a orangish cloud and sky with deep colors, and reddish and orange mood set in the dark shades,,, with some heavy black intensities,,even the forground cobble stone should not be too bright at all,
the roofs should be jet deep black red,,,with the flowers beings pink, white and yellow with the lights set on them,,,

i would like to know if any of you guys are seeing any deviation from what i have pointed out.thanks:thumb:

on my LCD the colors are looking washed out and bland

o and the poly on the portal stone is for an alpha map i am making with creepers growing on the wooden encirclement

In regards to your last render. Here is what I see on my HP LCD monitor.

A lower level of contrast than the previous renders, which I think looks good. The sky is green and light blue. The roofs are burnt orange to a desaturated red. The lanterns are a very saturated green. The flowers are a yellowish brown. I can see the fog on the water now and all the plants in there that were lost to me before in the previous renders. The tentacles are a flat grey.

I really like your scene. The umbrella is a cool new addition. Very sorry that you are having these calibration issues. I hope it gets all sorted out before your final entry. Keep up the hard work and best of luck.

I ment this pic (http://gameartisans.org/forums/attac...&d=1225190769), it's full of atmospheric and bright and sunny Your last render is better, not so confusing maybe you should set a lightsourc at the sky behind the houses so that the shadows are floating to the cameras direction. I like shadows pointing to the camera This pic could be an inspiration for you: http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...y/DSCN2170.jpg

Thanks a lot skyme,,,it does my heart good to know the calibration worked,it looks the same on my LCD as on your,,but unfortunately it looks diferent on my CRT..thanks a ton for ur observation

@ilegacy , that was a version i was going at,,,but the fog issue prevented me from going for it,,as for the shadows its still the same light source as the bright nd sunny one,,except the difference being i put in some cloud cover which is not allowing the sun to blaze out,,,and cast shadows,,,ill try to squeeze some cloud gap and put the sun in between,,,

guys try to lower the brightness/levels of the image in PS,,, it meant to be a little dark with cloud cover and the lantern lights glowing on the walls with a orange rediish tinge, with the trees looking fluorescent in the dark, its showing in my CRT,,,its better after the caliberation but i guess the caliberation olny works when both the computer you worked on and the one u view have the same profile ,im gonna try a different setting on my CRT and see if it works on the LCD

thanks a lot for your support guys,,really helps:lucky:,though i am saddened i am unable to share the colors i rendered with every1, ill give it my best shot till 2 mrw to rectify the prob

    "Free the blue moon,
    asked the giants,
    Strength i have,

well i cant pretend to be big fan of WOW,,out here getting a good broadband net connection is difficult,,, ,,never had a chance to play it in full swing
diablo series is amazing though, rite from diablo1-2 it was great fun,,,i still remember i used to play diablo 3 on my dads P3 machine in those days,,musta replayed the game several times ,,diablo3 is gonna be released soon,,i even heard there is a new starcraft coming soon:lucky:

i think i am gonna work on a nice dark looking cavern environment with diablo signature on it, as a tribute to the series and the fun i had playing it

You made me nervous with the monitor calibration issues so close to the end, but you pulled it off in a big way. Congrats on finishing! It looks really great. As it should be your last two renders are the best of the lot. Get some rest and good luck in the finals!
