  2. I made this character shortly after UT2003 came out. I used the juggernaught rig and got him in game.
I am going to try and keep the silhouette and bulky feel but he is going to look more mechanical in the "soft areas"
My plan is to have the concepts done by Saturday the 7th and then model and texture from the 8th to the 13th. I am going on vacation to a cabin from the 14th to the 21st so its going to be a real crunch.
This is my first ever contest so feedback is greatly appreciated.

Expect some early concept posts by tonight.

It looks like you have a really great piece to work with. Nothing to comment on until you post up your concepts though :P

  5. Hey, I like where this is going. Serious guy. Is he gonna have some weapons? Or this is will be rocket launchers and machine-guns in his arms?

  6. NEw concept ... moving away from the mechanical and more toward biomechanical.

    my old character + Mgs4 Raiden + GRAW1 = new concept.

Forgot to mention he has two guns on his little hip packs there. hopefully his winning pose will be him dual wielding those.
i think you can see them more clearly in this concept.

What do you guys think ?

I personally like the concept better. It has a stronger and more interesting silhouette in my opinion
The second concept is good, but his armor makes him seem paired down from the old model and first concept, like instead of him being a front line soldier, he's more of a covert ops guy. And its the former feeling I associated with your model.
At the very least, I'd say add some bulk to his shoulders.

Also, with that color scheme and the two pistols, I'm already associating him with Master Chief.

Much better than your original model. You got it exactly like your second concept. Nice job, but it's a shame you don't have any polies left for the wires. I think they really add something to your character.

  10. You should Up the poly limit on the contest and extend the deadline another month FredH! PLEEEEEEEEZE! ;=

I need to add the wires, a side arm, and more pouches! not to mention unwrap zbrush and texture the guy.

Nope, no polie bump ups and 1 months extensions

I am surprised you need more pouches. When looking at the concept, I figured you already had everything in there. If you didn't start creating the hi-res for this guy, perhaps simply texturing him will do. I doubt there is time for both. Good luck
