    Yes, this is dark Bovinekemon .

    ps. can pokemon use weapon? If no i make without polearm.
    Well Cubone and Marowawk both had bone clubs and Farfetched had a leak as a weapon, so its not unheard of xD

    I don't know... maybe something the color of his claws. More like a traditional dreadlock. That way you keep the same color scheme and a braid decoration with a glow much like what you have currently.

    seven - yeah, it was always my intent to use the spec map to make the details pop out. In fact I just finished the glow and the spec maps and he is looking great. I'll be posting an update here pretty quick.

    So here is the final update with all my maps (Diffuse, Normal, Spec, Spec Color, and Glow). He's currently at 1,236 tris.

    Now I need to rig him so that I can put him in a "super-awesome" pokemon pose. I might use the few extra tris for a fireball or something.

    Thx for the comment too. Your pokemon looks awesome.

    Look really cute. The wing will better if you using opacity map to make it like a real insect's wing.

    Paprika: Wow! That is looking awesome, and very pokemon!

    Draxxuss: Looking good, my only critique would be that the texture, although very nice, looks a little "gritty" for a pokemon.

    Walrus: Great model! It definitely has the pokemon vibe going strong... however, I think I preferred the old color scheme over newest one. But judging from the mix responses, that may just be a personal preference issue.

    Well, I looked over my "ultimate" pokemon, and noticed that it kind of looked like a kitten. Weak. I played with the proportions a bit, and have started working on the UVs again. Here's a comparison (the gray model is the new one):

    White Guardian - thanks a lot. I'd put together a tutorial if anyone is interested. Would focus on some of the techniques I use in helping save time as well.

    Total time on this model was about 20 hours. Concept, model, texture, rig)The final poly count is 1249 tri. I will be doing some animation with as well and will post some vids of that. I'll put together a better presentation sheet before Sunday but wanted to post this one now for crits.

    Spambergo - thanks.. right from the start I had decided I wasn't doing a flat shaded "traditional" pokemon. I wanted to go for a gritty cool character that I would want choose to play in a game. Besides... as I had said before, this IS the Ultimate Pokemon contest. I took a plain jane design from the pokemon world and "ultimafied" it. I could have made a bouncing ball with teeth, coloured it 2 tones of blue, and that would have fit right into the Pokemon world pretty well. I just chose to push my design in this direction instead of that.

    walrus: i tried the pink on the cheek but it didnt look that great, as far the purple under his eyes, wanted to show the poisions/ghostly vibe, i swear i saw it once in a pokemon episode like that haha
    seven: agree bouth the mouth but, well i got lazy to change anything, what can i say :inocent:
    ivars: man, that is hilarious! brilliant
    GarrettMinley: awesome shapes. altho i think the wings are killing your design, just my 2 cents tho.

Poison guys tend to be muted blues and purples, and Dark types (another option I was considering) tend towards black white and grey... but mostly grey.

    ...But maybe a hypothetical Ultimate Pokemon has a palette that Ultimately has more saturation. What do other folks think?
    I think you should stop philosophizing over pokemon color "rules" and just do whatever looks best to you and feels right! :lol:
    Also, I liked both color schemes a lot.

    I think the texture got a little too splotchy and noisy in the latest version. Any defining lines might look better clean and crisp. I would reserve the noise mostly for the smooth areas inbetween, so that it doesn't muddle up your muscle definition. Also, I think a more defined and tailored to fit skin pattern will look better than the random overlay you have now (though it's obviously a lot of extra work in that case).

    Hiyas!

    First post... anyway I'm gonna do one of those evolving pokemons. It's a little under 1200 tris now. Here are some wire:

    I have no clue about the textures yet... but I think I will go for the flat cartoony style with slight shading since it's very distinctive. Hmm... oh yeah it's gonna be an electric pokemon. Nice work everyone.

    @Draxxuss
    that is awesome man :thumb:

    @spambergo
    don't know why but i love the purple one better, it looks more cute

    @paprika
    i really appreciate your texture painting, if you can finish it, it will be rockin'

    @chippy82
    your pokemon is kick ass, but IMHO ii's too shinny, maybe you want to add more dark orange there?

    @Sogeking: Thanks a lot for the input! I like how your's is coming out so far, can't wait to see the texture.

    Does anyone else have a preference between my chibi model, and my newer model? I may just go ahead and do both, if I have time, as textures may play an important role in my decision.

    sogeking - Thanks. Yeah, I think you're right, the oranges kind of got washed out. I wish I had time to tweak the textures more, but unfortunately I have more pressing matters and have to move on.

    So, here is the final composite....

    Hey guys I decided im gonna scrap my old pokemon and go with this one:

    The concept isn't finished (right arm and wings) but I know what I wanna do just wanted to start modeling asap. Crits more than welcome and very appreciated.

    Draxxuss: Very cool design, really like colors youve chosen as well, love the poses too

    Aftermath: Good to see you decided to enter, cant wait to see your take on Blastoise

    Paprika: Really like your texturing so far, very clean and detailed

    Chippy82: Really like the mesh but the texture isnt workin for me, woulda been cool to see you make the hands and back transparent and more fire like, but good entry none the less

    Walrus: What can I say, you have essentially captured exactly what a Pokemon should look like, great job
